Hotel Suruchi is a Pure Veg Restaurant situated in the heart of the city. They serve authentic konkani and maharashtrian food such as Thalipith, Ghavan, Dadape Pohe, Modak, Amras, Misal Pav, Vada, Tandool Bhakari, Dalimbi Usal and many more. It has a simple façade. We were told the first floor has rooms of the hotel and the ground floor is for the restaurant. Plain, simple, and business-like seating arrangements. There was plenty of natural light, and the hall was very well-ventilated. It was a pleasant morning and for want of a better word I would say that the ambience was “fresh”.
We had decided that during our Konkan Trip, so far as all the meals were concerned, the emphasis would be on local Konkani cuisine. The menu had an item called “Ghavan” and we decided to have Ghavan at Suruchi. It is made from a paste of rice flour, in a process similar to what is used in making a dosa dish. On special occasions, it may be made from “ambemohor” rice which is indigenous to the Konkan area. I wanted to know how to determine/ judge the quality of Ghavan. I was told that a good ghavan is of uniform thickness, not too thick not too thin, and most importantly it should have fine “ gol Jalidar” ( net with circular holes). The jali, preferably seen on the reverse side as well. We were served ghavan with coconut chutney and Karvand pickle. It was delicious. It met all the requirements of a “good” ghavan. Enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner at Suruchi since we stayed there for 2 days.
Overall clean, good and simple ambience, hygienic food, quality .... everything is taken care of in this restaurant. Kudos to whole team and especially the Kaka who takes all the...

Read moreHotel Suruchi Pure Veg in Guhagar is a fantastic spot for those who love authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. The highlight of our meal was the Thalipeeth, a traditional multi-grain pancake that was perfectly spiced and crispy. What makes this place even more special is that if you love their Thalipeeth, you can buy its flour (Thalipeeth Peeth) at the billing counter and recreate the experience at home.
Another must-try dish is their Kaju Bhaji, a rich and flavorful preparation that pairs beautifully with chapati or bhakri. The Solkadhi was refreshing and authentic, making it a perfect digestive drink after a hearty meal. However, the Amras, made from mango pulp, did not meet our expectations—it lacked the freshness and sweetness we were hoping for. That being said, the Shreekhand was outstanding—creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced in sweetness.
The ambiance is simple yet clean, and the service is warm and welcoming. If you’re visiting Guhagar and looking for delicious, homely vegetarian food, Hotel Suruchi Pure Veg is highly recommended. Don’t miss out on their signature dishes, especially the Thalipeeth...
