MasaKha, Narhe!

Masakha is located in the main chowk of Narhe and is easily visible from the main road. Masakha restaurant serves North India, Chinese and Continental Cuisines. It has a simple yet elegant ambience and has lots of Mango and Coconut tree plantations in the premises. The seating is comfortable. The restaurant has specialtiy in sea food preparations and can be easily guessed from the name of the restaurant itself. I was invited over here for the food tasting session.

We were welcomed with a cool and refresing litchi based drink (non alcoholic).

Mocktails:

We tried array of refresing and impressive mocktails like Kiwi Apple Punch, Mango Blast, Strawberry Martini, Kiwi Martini, Blue Frog, Mango Blast Strawberry martini, Kiwi Martini, and Mango blast were my personal favourites.

Soups:

Mix Sea Food: The soup had small piece of meat of various seafood and was superb in taste. It had finely chopped garlic and green chillies, hint of black pepper; it was thick in consistency and had a nice and spicy after taste. #Highlyrecommended Lemon Corainder: This was again a nice option for vegetarian people. Finely chopped veggies along with refresing combination of Lemon and coriander did impress me a lot. A soup which will definitely rejuvenate you instantly. #Highlyrecommended

Starters:

Murg Dhania Boat: The dish had perfectly cooked boneless chicken pieces marinated in assorted spices along with yogurt and coriander. It was medium spicy in taste and did hit the right note. The dish was granished with fried coriander and was truly delicious. #Highlyrecommended

Chicken Ghee Roast: A mangalorean delicacy which was prepared spot on. The chicken was was well marinated with spicy and slightly tangy ground masala and it had a dintinctive taste. #Highlyrecommended

Gosht Boti Kebab: I skipped this mutton dish but those who had were truly delighted to have it.

Surmai Tawa Fry: Two big sized surmai pieces were shallow fired along with ground spices coating and was medium spicy in taste. The fish was nicely cooked and was good in taste, the Cabbage and grated coconut based salad which was served along with it was also good in taste. #Recommended

Prawns Malvani Masala: Jumbo sized prawns were prepared in kokum based malvani masala and were cooked to perfection. It was not at all rubbery and was soft. The masala was bit spicy in taste and was perfect for my palate. #Highlyrecommended.

Crab Butter Garlic: Finely minced crab meat along with butter and garlic was creamy and well done. The sauce was thick and superb in taste. #Highlyrecommended.

Bangda Shallow Fry: Again a good option in sea food. The Bangda ( Mackeral) was shallow fried with medium spicy ground spices coating and was superb in taste. #Recommended.

Mains:

Goan Prawns Curry: Mind Blowing. It had jumbo sized prawns done in goan spices with lots of coconut; it was spicy and slightly sour. The masala was blended to perfection and was delight to my taste buds. #Highlyrecommended.

Chicken Maratha: The gravy was slightly thin in consistency and was done in ground spices with tender and juicy chicken pieces. It was medium spicy in taste and was full of flavours. #Recommended.

Desserts:

Gajar Ka Halwa & Sizzling Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream: I must say one of the best gajar ka Halwa which I have had. The In House prepared gajar ka halwa was low on sweetness level and was topped with dry fruits. It was served hot. A must have at Masakha. The sizziling browie which was also done nicely was over shadowed because of the Gajar ka halwa.

Overall: Service was prompt and restaurant was hygienic. None of the sea food dishes had the fishy smell which is a really challenge for all the restaurants serving sea food and I must say Masakha scores full marks in it. The rates are pretty reasonable. Quantity of all the dishes is also good. We tried different dishes in our session and I must say all were brilliantly done right from the starters till desserts. A must visit place for Veg as well as...

Venue: Masakha

Date: 01-10-18

Time: 8 PM

Masakha, what a sorted name!! For those who don't understand Marathi, Masa is Fish and Kha is Eat. So basically the name means eat fish. The name tells about their specialty as well, it is a seafood specialty restaurant.

The restaurant is located on Pune - Satara highway, near Deccan Pavillion, Vithal Kamat chauk.

The ambiance is good, simple and nice. The restaurant is very spacious and very green. The outdoor section is full of trees and plants, that impressed me a lot. There is no AC but the place is so windy that one might not need an AC. They have good service and that makes the experience even better.

Let's get to the food now. We tried a couple of appetizers and mains, listing them below with my take on it.

Murgh Dhania Boat

Succulent chicken marinated in green masala, as the name suggests it was dominated with dhania that is coriander. I loved the taste, due use of green masala it had a kind of freshness in it. Kebabs were medium spicy and marination was generous which enhanced the taste. The kebabs were topped with deep fried coriander which gave it a crunch factor.

Surmai Tawa Fry

The freshness of the fish is must, you can not hide the odor of stale fish however you try. I love seafood and surmai tops my list in seafood and you should not mess with my fish. Here fish was fresh and it was marinated with basic ingredients. Salt, chili powder, turmeric powder, and few other basic ingredients. It kept the beauty of fish intact. Perfect pan-fried texture made it even more beautiful.

Prawn Malwani Masala

If you ask any seafood lover what they like the most in seafood, they will rank prawn in their top three and I'm one of them.

Malwani masala was regional spices of Konkan mixed with coconut and made into a paste form. Perfectly cooked prawns were tossed into this masala and were served with coriander garnishing.

Crab Butter Garlic

One of the best and most surprising dish of the night. The crab meat was cooked in butter garlic sauce. I was expecting a whole crab in butter garlic sauce but they served just the crab meat. I took my first bite and I was dreaming, it had a creamy texture and had a perfect hit of garlic. Brilliant preparation!!

Chicken Tandoori

A good tandoori, properly marinated and perfectly charred. I liked it. I don't know what to write about tandoori chicken, as we all are familiar with it.

Chicken Ghee Roast

A very good chicken preparation. Marinated chicken was roasted with lots of ghee. The use of ghee gives it a unique flavor and aroma.

After stuffing ourselves with appetizers we moved on to mains.

Goan Prawn Curry

Crunchy Prawns bathing tasty curry. Curry was yellow in color and it contained coconut majorly. It was mild in spices and but flooded with flavors. They managed to get that coastal very well.

Chicken Maratha

A spice semi thick gravy very high on masala. Chicken was nicely cooked and had accquired the taste of gravy.

Rara Gosht Masala

I was so stuffed that I could not dare to try it but the foodie in me was not ready to settle so I just tried one spoon of it. It was good that,s what I can say as I didn't eat it.

We ate all the gravies with neer dosa. Dosa was soft and very thin and eat a neer dosa in maximum four bites. I would suggest eating all the curries with neer dosa as does not tamper with the taste of the dish.

We finished the dinner with some desserts

We tried,

Gajar Halwa

Casata

Shahi Tukda

I liked gajar halwa the most, Casata was the one we get any regular ice cream shop and shahi tukda was little extra sweet for me.

I had a good meal at the Masakha, I would like to thank Swapnil for inviting us and being a good host and Mr. Ajinkya and team Masakha for...

So we Began with some Refreshive Mocktails - 1- Mango Blast : It's a combination of Vanilla ice cream with Bland and Mango juice which is really amazing. The mango tastes fantastic with the Bland (whey of churned Milk) and the Ice Cream keeps it thick and chill. A must try Mocktails.

2- Capriosca : Basically a cocktail modified to a Mocktail, this Drink is perfect to refresh yourself after a hot sunny day. The mints, ice cubes and lemons with sugar and soda keeps this drink simple and blissful. Cool, refreshing and unique flavour is worth a try.

Along with these Lovely Mocktails we had Some Delicious Appetizers such as 1 - Prawns (Shallow fried Malwani style) - As mentioned earlier, you get variety of choices with prawns. I without any second thought ordered Prawns shallow fried in Malwani style. I was amazed with the fragrance of the prawns and masala and the taste was superb. The prawns was perfectly cooked with coconut based Masala coupled with curry leaves and Kokum which will instantly reminds you of Konkan.

And in the Mains we Had:- 1:- Ghost Maratha - Thick red gravy with cooked in Maharashtrain style with lots of Spices and Good Juicy Meat is perfect treat for yourself and your friends /family. This Ghost Maratha is spicy and makes a perfect choice for the main course and is best to have with variety of Indian breads served at MASAKHA. My favourite is Butter naan. The size and texture of butter naan was not at all disappointing. A must try Meat gravy if you like Maharashtrian style food.

And we Ended up with Desert such As:- 1 - Gajar ka Halwa : Cooked and Served all over India, Gajar ka Halwa is everybody's love. MASAKHA's Gajar ka Halwa is rich in taste and garnished with dry fruits. Hands down this is one of the finest Gajar ka Halwa in the town. Very sure , many of us have visited this spot, no doubt they need any introduction, as of late I visited Masakha - Seafood Resto and Bar On Ambience: The 3 sided open eatery having Garden landscape & fountains. They guarantee they have the ability to provide food for 500+ patrons at any given time . Decent parking, as it is highway touch. On our entrance, we were accompanied to the table and offered us an a welcome drink, which I expected they been serving to every one of their customers. Mocktail ::> Being a tea totaler, requested Guava Merry: The zesty squeeze of ginger and pepper and the tangy tones of lemon juice make this guava drink a super hit! Spicy Guava Drink was well balanced. Starters ::> Prawns Salt n Pepper: Fresh and decent sized Prawns cooked along with Caesar cut exotic veggies was full-flavored, A classic sea food starter. Pomfret Tandoori Chatpata: The medium size Pomfret was set up with a mélange of spices grilled to perfection, the starter was delightful amalgamation of taste and aroma. Chicken dark rum chilly dry : This starter is Chef's recommendation and isn't recorded in their menu, this indo Chinese starter is cooked utilizing RUM as a base fixing, Indian vegetables and Chinese flavours. Tasted uicy chicken with a spicy, deep and slightly sweet flavor. Rum and spices Aroma was like "jib lap lappa Rahi the".. #Musttry Crab Tandoori: A fair size crab prepared in tandoori style we preferred With Bone. Very much marinated with the in-house Spices (Coastal flavours) Cooked/tandoor to flawlessness. At first, I find hard to separate the flesh from bones (which was obvious) later requested for Crab cutter tool which made my life easy... this gentle spice starter was a Show stealer. Main Course ::> We were certain that we needed to have 2 distinct curries, One was Malwani another was somewhat suggested in the house... Murgh Rogan Josh: The Kashmiri style gravy enhanced with garlic, ginger and aromatic spices and tender chicken pieces that will truly excite your palate. Surmai Malwani Curry: "Malvan Cha Kalvan" the rich gravy with medium sizes Surmai pieces was a true taste of seafood at its finest. Kori Roti: I attempted this first time, Kori Roti is a customary delicacy from the Mangalorean cooking. This roti is crispy thin rice wafers can go along with any curry You simply need to Dip the pieces in the gravy and once they are soaked, it's ready to eat.. #MUSTTRY on the off chance that you have not. Prawns Biryani: It was conventional in taste, and won't be a major ordeal if you gave a miss. Shahi Tukda: Not generally a Dessert person, For me it was the perfect finish to a meal Overall my Food testing experience was Very Good, Loved & Appreciate Team Masakha hospitality.

If you're that one veg guy from the group of all the non vegetarians, I hope this review will help you. Masakha, in marathi literally means 'Eat Fish'. So, when the name of the restaurant itself suggest that it specialises in Sea-Food, I was skeptical about visiting it. But my friends told me that "they also serve good veg stuff and also their desserts are really good". And to my amaze, the food really did impress me. The property is really big and so they have different sections for seating. One, they have an open seating under trees where it feels really good. Also, you can seat in a closed area for more privacy, I guess. ⏺️ We started with Solkadhi(Rs.130), which was very cold and so we couldn't enjoy it really. ⏺️ Then came the starters, 1. Salt n Pepper Broccoli : Florets of broccoli were coated and then deep fried. It was then tossed with colored bell peppers, garlic, spring onion. It was a good starter, I just felt it lacked that punch of black pepper. 2. Methi Corn Tikki (Rs.230) : It had a prominent taste(bitterness) of methi (fenugreek). It was mixed with corns and then deep fried. It was a bit oily though. 3. Paneer Malai Kebab(Rs.270) : If you like your starter on the mild, sweet side this is perfect for you. Paneer slices were stuffed with crumbled paneer with some spices, rolled, marinated and then cooked in tandoor. The smokiness due to the coal was standing out which resulted in a superb taste. ⏺️ In main course we order two sabji, one was 'Veg Anda Curry' and other's name I don't recall but it was good too. 1. In veg anda curry, cheese was stuffed inside potato covering and it was then deep fried. They made the stuffing yellow and managed really well to show the koftas as an egg. The gravy was tomato-onion based and was spicy. 2. The other one was served on a sizzler plate. It was basically a mixed veg with baby corn, mushroom, paneer, capsicum in it. It was good in taste but it was way too oily. ⏺️ Finally, the desserts. All the desserts were quite good. We had GULAB JAMUN(Rs.190), GAJAR HALWA(Rs.240), FRIED ICECREAM(Rs.240) and SIZZLING BROWNIE(Rs.240). Among all these, the sizzling brownie was amazing. The brownie was so soft and had a nice texture. The gulab jamun and gajar halwa were nice, nothing exceptional about them. I tried the fried ice cream for the first time. It was basically vanilla icecream stuffed inside a sponge cake and then deep fried. It was garnished with tutti-frutti and some nuts. If you want to try something different, you can go for it. With all of this, my friends loved the non veg. They have very innovative dishes in sea food section.
