I had high expectations when I visited Salokhe Misal Centre in Kolhapur, especially since the city is famous for its spicy and flavorful misal. Unfortunately, my experience was very disappointing and far from what I was hoping for.
First of all, the misal served here lacked the authentic Kolhapuri spice and flavor that one typically expects. It was extremely bland and felt more like a basic curry than the rich, spicy misal Kolhapur is known for. If you're someone who enjoys the traditional fiery taste, this place might not satisfy your craving. I even asked if it could be made spicier, but the taste still didn't improve.
The presentation was average, and the quality of ingredients did not seem very fresh. The farsan on top was soggy rather than crispy, and the bread (pav) served on the side was not fresh either. Overall, the dish just felt very underwhelming and lacked the punch you expect from misal.
To make things worse, the place didn't seem very clean, and the service was slow and disorganized despite it not being very crowded at the time. Staff did not seem too concerned when I mentioned the taste, which was a bit disappointing.
I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience didn’t live up to the reputation. With so many great misal joints in Kolhapur, I would recommend exploring other places if you're looking for authentic and spicy misal. Sadly, I won’t be returning to Salokhe...
Read moreThe place gave a "hole in the wall" kind of vibe but the food makes it all worth it. Still one of the cleaner misal joints I've been to. The misal by itself is outstanding and will have you yearning for more even as your stomach is bursting full. My personal definition of a good misal is spicy, hot and ofc if it doesn't make your nose run then it's not worth it. This Misal was all those things and a bit more. I went for the one without the curd, but quite a lot of people were ordering with curd. The bread was soft, felt fresh and wasn't too crumbly. Followed it up with a glass of Solkadi, I .mean cmon who has Misal and doesn't order Solkadi. The solkadi was cool, tangy and definitely provided solace to the bit of burning sensation in my mouth kudos the spicy misal. I strongly recommend you try the misal here. 60rs per plate and slice of...
