This place is located right in the main city. It is an old setup and hence people call it 'iconic'. The ambience is not at par with any restaurant but, I believe such places are no nonsense eateries and anyone looking ambience must refrain from visiting this place. We visited Alibaug on the last Sunday of June 2025 and decided to have dinner here after an online search. We ordered a pomfret fry and surmai fry along with a thali. Contrary to my expectations, the food here was quite average or may be the online reviews had increased my expectations. Regardless of the etiology, as a fish eater, I am very sure that, there are many good places in Pune (run by Konkani people) serving better preparations. The fish was well cooked but I think the marination should have been a bit better. The fish was way too oily and it seems that they had deep fried it for longer than usual. The service was good. I believe that the restaurant is run by a family or close relatives. The staff was polite but informal and that is what I like about these eateries, they treat you like a family member. There was no waiting at all but I had visited this place during off season. Car parking is an issue and during peak season, it is prudent to have a driver or avoid a...
Read moreWhile enjoying a weekend with friends in Alibaug, we visited Shree Ganesh Bhojanalay, a lovely gharguti hotel. The major attraction was their variety of fish thalis Surmai, Rawas, Crab, Pomfret, Prawns, and more. We ordered the Surmai and Pomfret thalis. Unfortunately, the Crab thali was unavailable.
Each thali came with your choice of chapati or bhakari, a generous piece of fish (full pomfret in the Pomfret thali), dry fish chutney, curry and rice, and a small bowl of solkadhi. The fish was amazing, and the solkadhi was a standout—so delicious that we wished we could have more, but it wasn’t available.
We also ordered prawns masala as a side. It was a thick, sukha preparation, and it tasted fantastic with rice. The whole experience was great, and I highly recommend it—definitely...
Read moreअजिबात जाऊ नका, एकदम बकवास आहे. Poor food quality if you are a fish fan. I ordered a Surmai fish thali and the fish piece was extremely small. I eat fish thalis in Mumbai and sizes are much larger. The surmai was stale and was cold. They took 30 mins to get me a thali where they just have 6 items on the menu. The curry was cold too and taste was like Aloo rassa, they had put one fish piece in it but it was 80% bone. Surprising isn't it? Then because I was tooooo hungry I ordered separate pomfret fry which was kind of ok but of a whooping 370 bucks. Don't go here please if you are hungry. There might be better places which I shall try the next time. But this place is jus old but not worthy...
