Today is Independence Day & well Meva had to be in her office for the flag hoisting ceremony by 8am. So we left Shillong by 7:20am & well the ceremony was a 30mins affair. We were both hungry & wanted to eat breakfast but all the shops around Mylliem were still closed. I then took out my trusted friend Mr. GMap & found something in Elephant Falls with a decent review.

We reached Elephant Falls almost 9am & had to pay 200 bucks as entry fees. We were surprised to see that the place was already filled with tourists so early. We spotted our stall & entered inside. It's a basic eatery packed with tourists & offering the regular Chinese & Indian fare with some Garo thalis as well. I decided on a Chicken Paratha while Meva went for the Poori Sabji.

The order came briskly & everything was prepared fresh. The chicken Paratha was cut into quarters & came with the same sabji as the 2 big sized Pooris. The sabji was soya chunks & potato. I asked for a homemade chilly sauce as well. I washed it all down over a cup of special tea.

The hot Pooris were very nice & the sabji was ok. The chicken Paratha was of a decent size & the filling inside was not as bold as I imagined it to be. It gave me chicken patties filling vibes. Tasty but mellow. So I asked for the chilli sauce which livened things a bit. The tea was a nice soothing ginger tea with just the right amount of sugar.

After the breakfast I thought I'd utilize the entry fee already paid (which was as much as the cost of breakfast) & well elephant falls had other plans for my fone. Next time I'm coming back for the thalis.
