Pangat means a line, a row, or a group. In a Pangat, the food is served by volunteers to people who sit together to eat.

This place is located at Dahisar East on a busy road. Parking for a 4 wheeler could be a problem. As soon as you enter, the aroma of fish engulfs you and makes you realise that you are at a perfect place. Light instrumental music, nicely arranged tables, cool decor welcomes you.

As it was a Dussehra, the place was flooded with foodies from all over. Luckily we found a table and after settling down, we placed our first order.

Chicken Lever Dry: Perfectly cooked lever pieces in a traditional Konkani Spice Mix with a little masala to it. Perfect consistency, neither too spicy nor too bland. A well balanced preparation. Loved it. Kaleji khake mere kaleje me thandak pad gayi.

Surmai Rava Fry: 2 pieces of fresh King Fish (Surmai) coated with Semolina (Rava) shallow fried to perfection. A nice blend of spices and the piece came off the bone with no effort. This proves the freshness of the fish. A personal recommended dish. Super tasty.

Broiler Chicken Handi (Half) with Vade: I was a little skeptical about the taste. Thought it would be very very spicy as the gravy was dark red. But as soon as I had my first morsel, I just loved it. And having it with Vade is a nice experience. Kombadi Vade is the actual delicacy of coastal region in Maharashtra. We gave it a twist and had it with Handi. I would not have relished it if the gravy would have been too watery like a Rassa. But these guys nailed it. They served it just the way I prefer it to be. The quantity was right for 4 people. The spice levels were perfect, and with every morsel you get the aroma of traditional Konkani Spice Mix.

Valachi Usal: This my personal favourite. Fantastically spiced up. I just realised the entire portion.

Overall, it was a super tasty dinner at Pangat. Dussehra dinner was a thorough enjoyment. The staff is courteous, the service is prompt. And it is a complete VFM...

This was my second visit to Pangat in Nancy Colony, Borivali. I had a good experience earlier, so I came again on a rainy Friday evening with my family. It took us a good 15 minutes to get a table. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating. This time we chose to sit inside. The place looks classy with minimalistic decor, and I liked the overall ambience.

We started with Veg Manchow Soup, Chicken Kalimiri Kebab, and Crab Lollipop. The soup was perfect for the weather and tasted really good. The Chicken Kalimiri Kebab tasted good and was cooked well, but I found a thread in the last piece, which was really disappointing. The staff took it to the kitchen when we showed it, but there was no response after that from their end. The Crab Lollipop tasted like it was frozen and not freshly made in their kitchen. Definitely not something I would order again.

For the main course, we ordered Veg Thali, Chicken Hyderabadi, Jeera Rice, Chapati, and Rice Bhakri. The thali was nice and filling. The Chicken Hyderabadi had good flavours but I personally felt it could have been a bit spicier. It had more of spinach-like aftertaste. The Rice Bhakri was soft and fresh, which I really liked. The Chapati was good and the Jeera Rice was simple and comforting.

The food overall was decent, but the service needs a lot of improvement. We had to call the staff multiple times just to get water or basic things. Many times, they completely ignored us, which was disappointing. When I raised this with the manager, he just listened and didn’t say anything. I honestly feel service matters as much as the food, and that part really fell short during our visit. I have had a better experience here before, so I do hope they take this feedback positively.

Ratings: Quality - 3/5 Quantity - 4/5 Service - 3/5 Price - ₹2100 for 4 people

Pangat: This restaurant has two branches in Borivali; Gorai (Borivali West) and Nensy colony (Borivali east). This restaurant is famous malvani and tandoor items. It servers both ac as well as non AC. On the entrance you would see a huge structure of crab. They serve huge variety of veg and non veg. Non veg dishes that feel one should definitely try chicken tandoori, chicken tikka, different kababs. They are famous for their Mavali style gravy. Sea food: carb masala, Surmai tawa Fry, mandeli and Surmai malvani style. You should miss to try the curry prepared in malvani masala.Liquor is not served here. Usually croweded during weekends and national holidays. This seating capacity is huge in ac section compared to other restaurants. As it servers delicious sea food, people for far also chooses this option. Inspite of so many restaurants nearby, this one is always full during weekends; quality speaks for itself. Being located on internal roads, one could easily find parking. Home delivery: the have tie up with zomato hence ordering at home with few discount offers is a very good deal and u may expect the delivery at home within 40 min from order placed. Sweet dish: kharwas is yummy here. Restrooms are well maintained. Overall eat here is...

Visited this place and being Sunday had to wait.. which made it clear that this place is for sure good.. trust me the wait was worth it. Ambiance- 3/5 AC was full so had to sit out, but was a very cozy place only drawback was there was no fan overhead but again got overlooked after taking that first morsel. Service-3.5/5 The staff was managing the people well, even though there was waiting they didn't rush anyone. The only thing that was disappointing was that they forget on an order that was placed Food-4/5 we ordered Chicken thali (320/-)which comprised of 3 vada (another option was chapati), green chutney which was yum, chicken masala again tasted delicious only the chicken was a bit chewy but the taste was yum. Chicken liver masala, solkadi and rice. Also ordered bangda thali (320/-)for myself which had fish curry this was good, only gravy this was okay, then sukat (dried prawns) this was very delicious, 3 vada (chapati was 2nd option)green chutney, solkadi, rice n highlight for me was that deep fried bangda. The fish was fresh n tasted delicious..what a yummalicious taste..could have been tad bit spicy.. All in all a yummalicious place.. totally sneh recommend 😊
