Just disappointing all the way round. The food is extremely overpriced. The waitstaff is a joke - they keep screaming at each other across the room right in the middle of the service. When provided specific instructions on the amount of spice you want your food to contain, they give you gyaan as to what the best spice level for you should be. I asked for extra spicy food, I received something barely spicy, clearly the consideration of the waiter was more important than me - the customer.
Food - The "tomato soup" was an abomination. The tikka starters are just tasteless fillers. These guys would be best advised sticking to making Saoji food only and try to maximise their usefulness in that regard, not venture in areas where they are clearly not qualified. Sadly, the Saoji food also was a bitter disappointment. This is the 2nd time I have had lunch in this establishment and both the times I found the food less than underwhelming. I highly doubt that there shall be a 3rd time for me now.
Prices - These people clearly believe that they can punch well above their weight as demonstrated by the pricing on their items. A normal mineral water bottle costs 30 Rs. here. For no reason other than because they can. The most ordinary, no-brand rice costs Rs. 100 for a half plate. The aforementioned tikkas were Rs. 300 for 9 tiny, brittle little pieces. One normal fulka chapati costs Rs. 20. I really do not mind paying premium if the place deserves it. I mean look at places like Barbeque (Sadar) or Yamazaki or Tao. They demand a premium because their product commands it. Not these folks. They are simply in the scalping business.
At this point of time, I cannot help but conclude that these people are pulling their clientele simply because of their location and the fact that they have been in business for long. As for people wanting to taste proper authentic Saoji that is actually worth a damn, you'd be well advised to give this place a wide berth. I...
Read moreJagadish Saoji Bhojanalaya in Nagpur is a fantastic place to experience authentic Saoji cuisine, known for its rich, spicy flavors that are sure to satisfy any food lover. Every time I visit Nagpur, this restaurant is on my list. One of the standout dishes is the dal kanda, which is highly recommended for vegetarians – it's flavorful, comforting, and perfectly spiced. Another favorite is the patodi rassa, a traditional dish that offers a perfect balance of heat and depth.
The way the restaurant operates is simple yet satisfying. They charge for a plate of curry, but the plate comes with unlimited rice and chapati, ensuring that you're well-fed and don’t leave hungry. It’s a great value for money, especially considering the generous portions.
To round out the meal, they also serve a sweet treat and a refreshing glass of chaas, which helps balance the spiciness of the dishes and adds to the overall experience. The ambiance is casual and comfortable, making it a great spot for both family meals and casual dining with friends.
