I visited Anupam while on a day trip to Nainital. I’m from the US and my husband and his family are from the Kumaon region. I found this gem while searching for the best places to eat in the area and so we thought we’d try it out. I was especially looking forward to trying a variety of Kumaoni food and I was so happy with this choice.

This restaurant is great! We ordered 2 Kumaoni Thali’s for the 3 of us at first, as our wait staff suggested that 3 might be too much. I really love that he recommended that to us, as food waste is never good. We did however devour both thali’s quickly and ordered the 3rd. They are so good and my husband ate at least a Thali and a half. :)

The Kumaoni food served with the thali’s are delicious! Every dish included in the Thali is cooked to perfection and I enjoyed this experience very much! My husband says that the taste is exactly how it should be and my father-in-law also loved the food!

I loved the Bal Mithai that came with each thali and found out that a sweet shop (Mamu’s Naini) next door makes these for the restaurant! After eating, we bought 4 boxes of Bal Mithai to enjoy later.

Overall, this restaurant has great food, a lovely and clean atmosphere and everyone, from the people at the front, to our servers were friendly! The only thing I didn’t think was as good of an experience was the bathroom, which wasn’t as clean, but fine. Gender-neutral bathroom with urinal and western toilet.

I loved that they had a hand washing station outside the bathroom and this area was clean!

Must visit when in Nainital ❤️ I absolutely loved this restaurant.. they serve amazing food ... So I tried veg kumaoni thali, shikar bhaat (twice), aloo Puri, fish curry, paneer prantha, mushroom paneer masala and chai... We literally had one meal everyday from this restaurant... I personally loved shikar bhaat which is mutton and rice ... My husband liked paneer prantha and it was soo stuffed that 1 is enough for a meal.... I loved their kumaoni raita ... Perfect for someone who loves spicy hit ... The best part they care about your requests .. like I ordered spicy food and my husband wanted mild spicy .. and they actually gave that ... I am forgetting the name of the server but it starts with N, probably Nilesh or Naresh ... He treated us really well everyday .... Not just the food but the staff is also very good I just didn't like the chilli garlic noodles that I got packed last day .. maybe they are just very good with Desi food ... And for me one bland experience will not stop me from...
