Hotel Cloud 7 — Hotel in Nainital

I’m writing this review after a few months, simply to help fellow travellers who are planning a trip to Nainital.

We had booked 2 rooms at Hotel Cloud 7 via MakeMyTrip after going through the photos online. The place looked neat, beautiful and well-maintained — although it seemed a bit over budget, I assumed the quality of rooms would justify the cost of ₹17,769.49. Unfortunately, our experience was far from expectations.

Let me break down the stay:

✔️ The only good thing: They allowed early check-in when we arrived on 25th Feb.

❌ Now, the issues started right after entering our room (which was supposed to be for me and my wife):

The room was dirty — bedsheets, pillow covers, and even the wooden wardrobe were all stained and unclean.

The bed had used bar wrappers and litter around.

This was disappointing especially because I had personally called the hotel a day before to confirm that cleanliness wouldn’t be an issue.

I had to call reception immediately and request them to clean the room and replace all linens. Thankfully, they did that within 15–20 minutes, but this level of hygiene should’ve been there from the start.

🚽 Bathroom issues:

The bathroom was extremely small — much smaller than what the pictures showed.

There was literally no space to bathe properly.

I noticed a spacious family room next door and requested if we could be upgraded, but was denied, even though the room remained vacant until 29th Feb. So clearly, they just didn’t want to offer it.

🛏️ Room 302 (my friend’s room):

His bathroom had terrible water flow. The bucket took 45+ minutes to fill.

The tap in my room was leaking too — I informed the staff but they never fixed it.

The doormats outside the bathroom and main door were extremely dirty — as if they hadn’t been cleaned in a long time.

No towels were provided.

No room heater either — which is quite basic in a cold place like Nainital.

☕ Food & service:

The tea we ordered via reception was very poor in quality.

On the third day, it rained heavily. We called the hotel’s restaurant to ask about food but received no call back. After waiting for a long time, we were forced to go out and get food — getting wet and cold in the process.

📉 Overall experience: The staff’s attitude was disappointing and the service was simply unacceptable for the amount we paid. We somehow managed to complete our stay, but it was far from comfortable.

🚫 Final word: I would never return to this hotel and definitely won’t recommend it to anyone I know. For a price this high, the service and hospitality were shockingly poor. Felt like a complete...

0 yes a big zero to this HOSTEL...if i could have posted without a star would have done so...but lucky them and unlucky me...stop calling it a hotel guys its a hostel or may be a jail..was here on 04/01/2017 and the experience was agonizing..first of all wrong information about location on various websites (it is at good distance from mall road) and they don't have any parking, what do you get to hear from them is that park your vehicle yourself good half a km away if you get parking or else park it in the city parking at flats which is more than a km away. Then carry your luggage to the hotel yourself and from their only the staff would take luggage. No drinking water in rooms, no towels, no wifi on 3rd floor and on top of that no blowers or heaters (mercury was touching 0 degree Celsius). Bathing area in wash rooms was so small that you can barely wash your hands in the bathing area. Literally no room service, i asked for milk at around 9:00 PM i was told that no milk is available, i went outside to get milk and around 9:45 called for water, towels, blankets, blowers etc but nobody picked up the phone. Then came the shocker, i reached the reception and saw that there was no one at the reception and the hotel gate was locked with a big lock. Some people were standing outside to come inside and i was waiting inside for someone to come at reception or go out to get water and other things for me, but just kept sitting there for an hour. No information nothing was given at reception, after getting some numbers from internet finally someone came and opened the main door of the hotel and told that it is a hotel policy of Nainital that all hotels lock doors at 10:00 Pm and no service is provided after that. Can right a book on my terrible experience, sorry for a big review, just to save every one else from the trouble...DONT GO...

We stayed here in Nov-2024. Its a budget hotel. I shall give it 7/10. They charged Rs.2100/- for a day. The deal was okay. Positives: It is a 5 min walk from Lake & in Main Market. So everything is nearby. The staff is very cooperative. 3, Cleanliness is good as per price. The Room decore is decent. All the good Restaurants are 2 min away - like Shiva & Anupam Restaurant. Famous Mamu sweets is also.

Negatives: It is by the road where Vehicle can't be parked for longer time for Bags removal. But staff helps in that matter. There was no heater. They were unable to provide. So during winter days it is going to be unbearable for outsiders. Hotel management is suggested to provide the heater for at least an hour - when we enter the room. After an hour when room temperature is little warm, they may take it away. The curtains couldnt cover the room properly. I showed staff about the same. But they didnt act or just could not understand me. It is not good especially for ladies. Hotel management to seriously look into the same. Hotel kitchen is in Bad condition. Hotel Management is suggested to shut it - it is not needed as good restaurants are nearby. Rather convert it into a nice & clean sitting area - from where Naini...
