My first time Amma's Tiffin . It's a ritual for me to go out for breakfast after work early morning on Saturdays with my family and today we chose Amma's Tiffin.
And soon I was going to be glad. The owner is a sweet, enthusiastic lady and she makes sure every customer feels welcome.
We ordered the ghee rava onion podi dosa and my mind was blown. I wasn't going to share any with my husband so he ordered one more for just himself.
The idlis were amazing and so were the medu vade... Chutneys and sambar.. not too sweet, not too spicy, just how I like it. Very comforting and full of flavours.
The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is the masala tea. Could be much better. It lacked the strength and was too milky for my liking. Tasted more like ilaichi wala dudh. But I get it, personal preferences. Others might enjoy it.
I am going to visit again soon to try other delicacies. Can't wait to try their filter kaapi, bisi bele bhat and podi idli 💓
May your kitchen continue to serve delicious food for many many years to come!
Edit - Adding my experience from my second visit yesterday.
Mysore sada dosa and Mysore masala dosa- It's to die for! Mini podi idli - Amazing! Must try. Bisi bele bhat - It lacked the flavors a bit and tasted prominently of one particular spice. Could be better. Pineapple kesari - don't have a picture of it but it was a big portion enough for 3 people. Laden with ghee and fresh pineapple, super soft and melt in mouth, less sweet, which makes it even better. Amazing!
Coffee - very flavorful but prepared without sugar so you have to add sugar separately and that's not as great as the coffee made with milk that has been boiled with sugar. But again, that's just personal preference.
The portion sizes of some items are a bit too big and can be easily shared between 2-3 people. So order...
Read moreHad all of the items in the photo + kaapi 😋 This is one of the new joints open in nashik that serve authentic South Indian food. Stuck in lockdown but open now one should surely give this one a go. The food here is delicious and is well served The best of them, is they serve food in leaf plates. Thats a plus for the environment. We went here was a morning breakfast and the place was filled as it was a sunday. Had little place to sit, but we managed . The owner is really sweet and she personally served us and made sure all of the orders were delivered in these rush hours. Will be planning to visit the place during normal days to avoid unexpected rush. The joint is on a walks distance from College road or Gangapur road’s shahid circle. Get a 2 wheelers, parking for 4 wheelers is a doubt. Or carpool 😝 So we ordered a lot more than the photos clicker The idlis were tasty. Can’t remember the names of the variety but they were yummm…Idli was soft and good to eat , with ghee on it , it made idli to be easy on your throat 😂 (you know the pain swallowing a dry idli) . The dosas were well made and so were the uttapas. Very low on oil and good in taste. Soft and delicious. The coffee was a bit sweeter than expected but that may be varied as per choice . Also don’t ask of extra spoons , use the same spoon for every order , that reduces wastage and is more sustainable Overall a great experience So here we go! Food : 5/5 Service : 4/5 Hospitality: 5/5 Ambience:4/5 ( doesn’t matter) Taste: 5/5 Hygiene: 5/5 Satisfaction:...
Read moreToday I visited Amma’s Tiffin Kappi and ordered two items dal vada and masala dosa. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The masala inside the dosa was spoiled. My mother politely informed the staff about it. The waiter acknowledged it and said they would check and replace the potato masala. After verifying, they cancelled 5–6 masala dosa orders of other customers in front of us, which confirmed the issue but didn't bother to inform us
However, instead of informing us immediately, we were left waiting for nearly 30 minutes. When we asked again, the waiter casually told us the masala had been thrown away. I even spoke to the owner (I believe her name is “Amma”), and her reaction was very indifferent just a plain “thank you for telling” nothing more. We expected at least a word of appreciation for pointing it out, or a gesture of goodwill like a complimentary item, a discount, or at least waiving the dosa charge since the problem was from their side. Instead, they told us they would just bill us for a plain dosa instead of the masala dosa. Honestly, this was quite disappointing. We didn’t raise the issue for freebies; we genuinely wanted them to know and maintain quality. But their lack of basic courtesy or customer care made the experience worse. If someone else had shouted instead of calmly informing them, I’m sure they would have handled it differently. Food quality matters, but so does customer service and sadly, Amma’s Tiffin Kappi fell short...
