Tried Udupi Spice in Nashik recently and had a mixed experience. While I was hoping for good South Indian food, it didnāt quite meet expectations.
The dosa was not up to the mark ā it was bland, lacked crispness, and didnāt feel fresh. The only good part of the meal was the coconut chutney and sambar, which were tasty and well-made. However, the red chutney was given in just two drops, and even after repeatedly asking 2ā3 times, they were reluctant to provide more. That was quite disappointing and showed poor customer service.
The ambiance is decent and the place is clean, but service and attitude of staff need improvement. When you're running a South Indian restaurant, being stingy with chutney is the last thing customers expect.
Tasty coconut chutney and sambar Clean environment Quick serving time
Only recommended if you're nearby and craving chutney-sambar ā donāt go with high expectations for overall...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt's a small joint with around six tablets, the owner comes and interacts with the customers often. The idli was nice soft and fluffy but was small, the Vada was also small hence they serve four pieces in a plate. We tried the Butter Malga Pudi Dosa, which had a nice crust at the bottom and a lot of butter and a powdery chutney with some onion. This was accompanied by some mediocre sambar and a white chutney with very little character of its own to differentiate with any other joint and a spicy red chutney. We also tried a Neer Dosa platter which came with four soft little Neer Dosas and a sukkha paneer masala which had a lot of freshly grated coconut base and was well spiced. The paneer dish had a proper South Indian taste. We then tried the pineapple sheera which was soft and buttery but not extra ordinary, we then washed it all down with a filter coffee which was average. The staff was friendly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was big fan of this place till my last visit today. Now this place has moved to new place from college road outlet to Jehan Circle outlet and the quality has degraded to the lowest it can and the prices has gone up like Dosa is served in some special plate. The dosa which I had last time at around 130 in April-May is costing now Rs. 190/- They call it Ghee dosa and sprinkle like Half spoon of Ghee. After paying 190 Rs the Dosa was very soggy and sides was also given so less which was not sufficient to eat that soggy stupid dosa.
I was huge fan of this place but I am not going to go this place again. There are many good options available in the town.
Very Disappointed!! Staff didnāt even bother to address the issue. If there was zero and negative rating options available I would have...
