During my journey back from Delhi to Chandigarh, I had the pleasure of dining at a remarkable dhaba located in Murthal. The experience was enhanced by the unique setting, the welcoming atmosphere, and a touch of rain that added to the charm.
As we pulled into the dhaba's parking area, the raindrops created a soothing ambiance, and the attentive staff member, armed with an umbrella, escorted us to the entrance. The first thing that struck me was the sheer size of the dining halls, which showcased the dhaba's popularity and capacity to accommodate a large number of guests.
Settling down at a cozy table, I eagerly awaited the culinary delights that awaited. Our choice was a selection of different types of paranthas, a classic North Indian staple, served with generous dollops of white butter. The flavors of the paranthas were comforting, though not overwhelmingly exceptional. The simple yet hearty meal was a fitting companion to the rustic charm of the dhaba.
What truly stood out was the warm hospitality of the dhaba's staff. Their attentive service and willingness to make our visit comfortable added to the overall positive experience. It's heartening to be met with such genuine care and concern, especially when on a long journey.
The combination of the rain, the sprawling dining halls, the simple yet satisfying food, and the hospitality created a delightful evening that I won't soon forget. The dhaba's ability to provide a satisfying meal in a welcoming environment, even amidst the rain, left me content and appreciative of their efforts. If you find yourself on the road near Murthal, this dhaba is worth a stop for a taste of North Indian comfort and...
Read moreThis very popular dhaba has been morphing into a restaurant type eatery over the years. Apart from the change in the layout and the ambiance, the menu too has kept changing and is now a very cosmopolitan one offering food from all over India and also so called Chinese food sold in Indian restaurants. I have been to this dhaba many times and found that they have now made themselves suitable for a meal anytime of the day and also have stores around that sell touristy stuff. The food to be chosen however, in my view, is the north Indian or local cuisine. On a recent visit I ordered gobhi (cauliflower) and muli (radish) paratha. I chose these two over the aloo (potato) paratha which tends to be very heavy for non regular consumers like me. The parathas are served hot from the oven and with a giant helping of butter as is common in the region. Two parathas make a good, hearty and nutritious breakfast. We also ordered chai which is served in glass tumblers. The chai was nothing great. The prices are reasonable and one has options of seating in the open or air conditioned space. The restaurant provides ample parking space and also clean and well maintained washrooms. This is one among few very popular dhabas on GT Karnal Road and worth a visit while...
Read moreThis is one place i would love to go extra kms for paranthas. I used to go specially from delhi to murthal for tandoori paranthas and gulshan dhaba used to be one of my favourites when i was a bachelor. That was long time back when i was in my 20's. Im still in my 20's but with 20 years of experience 😜😜😜. That was a bad joke but yes thats true i loved this place. So we were on my way back from karnal as i was on a business trip and my better half and my kids were with me. Kids were hungry and they didn't wanted to have the junk stuff so i chose to have dinner at gulshan dhaba. Earlier there were no flyovers and we could have crossed the road on the other side but now times have changed and we had to drive extra kilometres to make a U-turn below the flyover. The facade of the dhaba as so many new eateries have cropped up in the same area. But it was definitely worth making a U-turn and driving the extra mile. The tandoori paranthas are still the same although they are served with fresh white butter which my grandmother used to serve on top of the paranthas. The variety of the paranthas are endless. Try aloo pyaaz or gobi or aloo paranthas. One is better than the other. Do throng this place if u love tandoori...
