Gatti Chutney – A Decent Breakfast Spot with Room for Improvement (3.5/5)
Gatti Chutney provides a welcome change for those looking to explore flavors beyond the typical South Indian snacks. The food is undeniably tasty, and the menu introduces diners to something different. With a breakfast-and-brunch-oriented setup, it caters well to early risers and those wanting a hearty start to their day.
However, while the taste is commendable, the overall experience has its ups and downs. The self-order system—where diners pay upfront, collect a table number, and wait for their food to be served—works efficiently but can be inconvenient at times. The puddi they serve might not be universally appealing, which comes down to personal preference.
One major area needing improvement is the serving style. Paper plates and paper bowls for sambar feel underwhelming, especially given the price point of the dishes. A transition to steel spoons and more authentic plating, perhaps with banana leaves, would significantly enhance the dining experience. The filter coffee, which costs over ₹100, is served in a paper cup, which diminishes the charm of enjoying a traditionally brewed beverage. These seemingly small details play a big role in shaping the overall impression of the restaurant.
That said, the location is a definite highlight. It is an inviting spot, particularly when it’s raining, making it a pleasant place to spend time with loved ones. The ambiance helps compensate for some of the shortcomings.
Verdict: Gatti Chutney has the potential to be an excellent breakfast and brunch destination. The food is flavorful, and the location is charming. However, refining the serving experience and presentation would go a long way in elevating it further. For now, a fair rating of...

My wife and I recently visited Gatti Chutney in Kharadi, Pune, for lunch on October 29, 2025, and it was truly an exceptional experience. This restaurant is a hidden gem for authentic, high-quality South Indian cuisine.
We ordered the Ghee Pudi Tatte Idli and the Ghee Pudi Masala Dosa. The food was simply yummilicious! The Tatte Idli was incredibly soft, melt-in-your-mouth perfect, and the fragrance of the ghee and pudi blend was divine. The Masala Dosa was crisp, expertly prepared, and the accompanying chutneys were fresh and flavorful—easily some of the best South Indian fare we've had in Pune.
What makes this place truly special is the passion of the people behind the brand. I had the pleasure of meeting co-owner Ms. Archana Gatti and their Area Manager, Mr. Sachin Patro, at a separate Puja function where they handled the catering on November 30, 2025. Both Ms. Gatti and Mr. Patro were incredibly humble and genuinely dedicated to their work.
They shared that the brand has been running successfully for the last three years and that the owners, Ms. Archana and Mr. Rohit Gatti (a husband-wife duo), hail from Bangalore. It's clear that their deep roots in Karnataka cooking tradition translate directly into the authenticity and quality of every dish served.

Read moreGati Chutney is one of those charming spots that strikes the right balance between great food, affordability, and a welcoming atmosphere. With both indoor and outdoor seating, the place offers a laid-back, casual vibe perfect for a quick meal or a relaxed breakfast outing.
The food is made fresh to order, and it shows — the Ghee Pudi Idli and Benne Dosa were absolutely delicious, served hot with bold flavors and that unmistakable homemade touch. Prices are relatively pocket-friendly, which is a huge plus, especially given the quality of the food.
The restaurant also seems to be a hot favorite on Swiggy and Zomato, with a steady stream of delivery agents—a good sign that the kitchen is consistently busy and in demand.
Parking is roadside but fairly easy to manage just outside the restaurant.

Areas to Improve:
🚫 There were quite a few flies around, which took away from the dining experience. 🚫 No fly-trap or insect control measures were visible — investing in this would greatly enhance the hygiene factor.
Final Thoughts: Gati Chutney is a value-for-money eatery with solid food and a charming setup. With a bit more attention to cleanliness and pest control, it could easily become a go-to spot for regular dine-ins. Worth a visit if you’re in the area and craving good South...
