“I recently visited your restaurant and ordered a Ghee Masala Dosa (₹90), Ghee Onion Uttapam (₹90), three Pongal (₹65 each = ₹195), and a water bottle (₹20). The total according to the menu board should have been ₹395. However, I was charged ₹405.This looks like unfair billing and creates distrust. This is unfair and misleading. Don’t visit if you expect honest pricing.”Absolutely dishonest place — don’t waste your money here.”
Update-
I did check the prices, and that’s exactly why I raised this concern. On your menu board, the Ghee Onion Uttapam was listed as ₹90, not ₹100. As a customer, I have every right to question discrepancies between the displayed price and the final bill.
Instead of dismissing this as “laughable,” it would have been more professional to accept the feedback and ensure price consistency across your menu and billing system. Customers should not be expected to cross-check or argue at the counter; the responsibility of transparency lies with the business.
Your response reflects poorly on customer service. A simple clarification or acknowledgment would have been enough, but mocking a customer only proves the very point I raised — that there’s a lack of seriousness towards fairness and transparency.”
Update- I respect your perspective, but as a customer, I have every right to share my experience honestly. The words I used reflect how I felt after being charged differently from what was displayed. Reviews are meant to highlight transparency and fairness so future customers are aware.
Instead of dismissing my feedback as “irrelevant,” a more customer-focused approach would have been to clarify the discrepancy politely. Feedback, even if negative, helps businesses improve.
I hope in the future, concerns raised by customers are acknowledged respectfully rather than being dismissed outright.
Thank you for your response. I would like to clarify that if I had not verified the prices myself, I would not have been able to point out the specific mismatch in the dish I ordered. In that case, I would have raised questions on the prices of other dishes as well.
To address your point, I did not rely on Google photos. I personally checked the prices on the board menu displayed at the restaurant, and based on that I shared my feedback. My intention was never to belittle the restaurant but only to highlight a genuine concern.
I respect the effort and pride you put into your food and service, but I also believe that ensuring transparency and consistency in pricing is equally important to maintain...
Read moreIn my endless journey for new tastes and good food I often tend to stumble upon some really good food joints. But only a few have been able to shock me in a happy fashion; Mr. & Mrs. Iyer's Kitchen is one of them! If you love good food and want to try out some good authentic south indian dishes, this is the place to go. Just as the name, Mr. & Mrs. Iyer both are very humble and curate every dish with atmost passion which reflects in its taste. Mr. Iyer being a lawyer and Mrs. Iyer being a teacher by profession, one can easily see their disciplined approach towards good hospitality. They have started with a very limited menu focusing more on perfection of taste and service. It's an open kitchen concept which is very well managed, clean and hygienic. As they say....Never judge a book by it's cover, even this joint is no less compared to any restaurant boasting to serve most authentic southern Indian flavours. The sambar that they serve is not as watery as what other udipi restaurants offer. It is thick to perfection, contains good amount of veggies and the spices, masalas used are enthralling! Yes, it is a new venture and is only 3 months old so a couple of things are in development which will fall in place soon. But such efforts need appreciation & support. So as a fellow foodie and food reveiwer it's my humble request to all to visit this place atleast once to concur with my opinion.
Cheers! And keep the good work going! All the best Mr. & Mrs. Iyer's kitchen. I shall return soon...
Read more"I recently visited Mr. and Mrs. Ayyer South Indian restaurant, and it was a delightful experience! The ambiance immediately transports you to South India with its warm and inviting decor. I started my meal with the lemon rice, which was wonderfully fragrant and had a perfect balance of tanginess and mild spices that made each bite refreshing yet hearty.
Next, I tried the podi masala idli – a treat for any spice lover! The idlis were fluffy, and the podi (spiced powder) added a savory kick, making it both comforting and packed with flavor. I also sampled a classic dosa, which was crispy on the outside with a light, soft interior, just as it should be. Paired with their range of chutneys and sambar, it was like a taste of South India on a plate.
The filter coffee was another highlight. Rich, aromatic, and perfectly brewed, it was the ideal way to wrap up the meal. However, the star of my experience was surprisingly the Bombay sandwich! While not traditionally South Indian, it was prepared with a unique twist – fresh, flavorful, and just the right blend of spices, giving it a distinctive character.
Overall, Mr. and Mrs. Ayyer is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic South Indian flavors with a touch of variety. Highly recommend trying the Bombay sandwich as a...
