Mama's Rasoi by Spring Hill Resorts — Restaurant in Punjab

Recounting my experience from last weekend, my husband and I were on our way to the hills in McLeod Ganj and stopped over at Mama's Rasoi for a bite to eat, since it was already 7 in the evening we decided we may as well take a break and stop over at this establishment for the night. We checked online on the OTA's and saw the availability of the rooms and hence made our way there. Upon arriving at the reception we were indeed told that rooms were available and we asked for the room to be shown, we approved the room. The associate quoted an exorbitant price for the room and we showed him the price and availability online, on this let me translate his response which was given in hindi into english "you may book online but we will not approve your booking, we will close the portal so you will have to book through us directly at the price given by us" this was followed by a call to his colleague to immediately remove the room from the online portal. We were positively shocked by this lack of professionalism, we asked to speak to the manager who was even more rude and unprofessional than his staff, he raised his volume and assumed a threatening pose, upon which I asked him to share his owners details which he point blank refused. We walked out of the place and drove all the way to McLeod the same night as we did not feel safe at this establishment. Being a hotelier myself, I was beyond shocked that a reputed establishment would have employees who are so crass and more like thugs than service personnel. Highly Unprofessional and Overpriced – Avoid at All Costs

Visited this banquet hall recently to inquire about hosting a wedding function, and the entire experience was a disaster from the start. The manager, Rachit, was incredibly rude and seemed completely uninterested in actually helping us. Instead of offering any warm welcome or useful information, he acted like he was doing us a favor by just talking.

The moment we asked for a price quotation, things got worse. He threw around random numbers with zero explanation — the cost he quoted was unreasonably high and made absolutely no sense based on the services we discussed. When we tried to get clarity, he became defensive and even sarcastic, instead of being transparent and professional. It felt like the prices were being made up on the spot depending on his mood.

What’s more, there was no proper rate card or service list, and when asked for one, his response was vague and dismissive. For such a big event, this lack of structure and accountability is unacceptable.

Basic hospitality was also missing. We waited there for nearly an hour, and no one from the staff even bothered to offer us water or check on us. When we finally asked for a contact number for further communication, he gave us a number that turned out to be unreachable.

Overall, a completely unpleasant and unprofessional experience. I strongly advise others to think twice before considering this venue. There are many other banquet halls with better service, reasonable pricing, and respectful staff. Save your money and your...
