Read moreOld Rishi Dhaba at Gill Chowk, Ludhiana, is a popular spot for Punjabi cuisine. While the dhaba has its strengths, the food quality was a mixed bag during my recent visit.
Highlights
Tandoori Chap: The tandoori chap was a highlight of my meal. Soft, flavorful, and perfectly cooked, it was a delight to eat.
Disappointments
Bread: The missi roti was a letdown. It was dry and lacked the flavor I expect from a good missi roti.
Daal Tadka: The daal tadka had an unusual twist with sirka (vinegar) and pyaz (onions), but it didn't quite work for me. The flavors didn't balance out well.
Overall Experience
Despite some disappointments, Old Rishi Dhaba has its charm. The tandoori chap was excellent, and the ambiance was typical of a Punjabi dhaba. Read moreThis one of the few historic restaurants which have preserved their old taste. This dhaba was famous for it's dal, and it is still as good as before. It has a big sitting area so big families and small grouos can come here. The prices are reasonable considering that they are very famous. The kitchen is open and visible so you can see that it is clean. On the other hand, because it is open and clean, dust and pollution from outside can come into the food. Another important thing is that they don't accept credit or debit cards. They also don't accept PayTM or Google pay or any such service. So that's s bummer. So make sure you carry the necessary cash. But it is a good...
