Overhyped & Poorly Managed — Not Worth the Instagram Buzz

Visited KAWO – The Rooftop, located at Lotus Ananta Elite, near Alu-Alias Mall, to celebrate my mom’s birthday with family (6 people, including a toddler). We picked this place based on their Instagram promotions — hyped-up event night, DJ, lively vibe. Reality? Nothing even close.

There was no event, no DJ, no music — just a regular quiet evening. We chose to sit at the birthday-decorated sofa area, which was empty and not reserved. 15 minutes later, the staff asked us to vacate the spot for three other guests who, according to them, had to “cut a cake.” Turns out, those guests simply sat there for over an hour, eating a full meal — no birthday celebration happened.

Despite asking beforehand on their Google-listed number if we needed reservations (they said no), we were still made to move — with a 1-year-old child in hand. Poor treatment, zero accountability, and staff kept dodging us with statements like “They has just ordered; they’ll cut the cake soon.”

We finally got the place back after an hour and placed our order. • Food was average in taste, • Low in quantity, • Priced premium — not justified. Only good part? A complimentary photographer was available.

I had heard a lot about the newly opened Kawo Rooftop in Kota and decided to visit it on a Sunday. My personal experience was not as great as I had expected. The décor was nice and the seating arrangements were decent, but things went downhill from there.

When we received the menu, it was surprisingly poor in quality. It was sticky and felt cheap - something you'd expect at a roadside eatery, not at a rooftop cafe like this. The prices were exorbitant, especially considering the quality of service and ambiance. Mocktails were priced at ₹250+ and only had five options available.

We ordered a sizzler for around ₹500, and it was served cold. Before that, we had asked for regular water instead of the sealed bottled water placed on our table. The waiter brought a dirty, grimy jug that looked like it belonged in a restroom. It was completely out of place in a supposedly high-class establishment. When we asked about the jug, the waiter said that it was all they had.

The sizzler was finally served on a plate, but the waiter forgot to bring a spoon for 20 minutes. This was not due to the cafe being busy or crowded; it was simply negligence on their part.

Overall, I would give Kawo Rooftop a 2-star rating. If they are charging premium prices, they should provide top-quality service and facilities. Instead, it felt like we were overpaying for subpar experiences that one might find at a low-end diner. I was completely disappointed and cannot...

I had a very bad experience at this restaurant. Begining from getting a seat to paying the bill it was a pathetic experience. We have to wait for 15 mins for them to arrange sitting as no one was paying attention, then we have to call them multiple times to clean the table. At the time of billing, they billed is differently for the food what was mentioned in the menu, we have to correct them twice for the prices.

The only compensation was that the food was quite okay, prices are definitely on the higher side but it was good, and music was also good.

Overall very bad customer handling.
