I have been a member of the Pushkar community for almost a decade and let me tell you, I have never experienced such ignorant owners and service. Initially, I was grateful to return & find a new vegan restaurant in Pushkar. I had brunch with the hula class here one week and had been coming from time to time in between work. Therefore, when I was charged more than the price listed on the menu for an item, quite naturally I brought it to the owners' attention. Special or not, I was never told in advance that the price would be different.
When I was overcharged & inquired, I was rudely told that this was the price, period. The husband, who I first asked, was incapable, to say the least. He might as well have not been there.
But the real star of the show is Veena, who is the especially nasty one. She tried to pull anything she could out of her hat to justify overcharging me. My favorite is when she told me that because she saw me there talking to someone who, truth be told, I’ve spoken to on occasion, but don’t know (which is very common practice in Pushkar) that I should know the price. She also reminded me that l only order a couple of things when I come. In other words, they only value you as a customer if you spend a certain amount. And I guess I wasn’t adhering to their quota.
Behind the forced smiles and fake shanti ambiance is an environment ridden with tension, as they are at odds with the hotel / property owner & talk negatively about him every chance they can get. I guess to compensate for their failed business partnership, they can bait and switch a few unsuspecting customers for a few rupees here and there. What’s even worst is they think they can get away with it.
Prices should be communicated to the customer upfront. That goes without saying. It has nothing to do with the cost. It’s the principle. But of course, when you’re dealing with people with zero integrity and who can’t handle taking any accountability for their mistake then they’ll try to manipulate the narrative to suit their agenda.
Now I understand why things have not worked out for them here & they are now closed.

Read moreIt's been one of those magical times where I've entered the space and immediately fell in love. It's not only the physical space but the whole experience that awaits right after you cross the threshold of the door. You are welcomed with the most honest and kind smile that can possibly be offered. By the time I ordered a smoothie I already felt like I've been coming here since forever. And that spreads out across the entire experience. THE FOOD. I've had the specialty of the day pasta with mushrooms, tofu made by the owners and side salads as well. Cheesecake for dessert also made with their own tofu. Needless to say it was great but not only that. It was just where the food is supposed to be for me. Not too spicy, not too salty nor oily- simply where it should always be. Healthy, yummy, nutritious and tasty.
In one day I've been there twice. First time some people gently played guitar and sang lovely, enjoying the warmth of the early afternoon sun, and in the evening we sat by the fire telling each other stories and just being, which is also a reason why I have zero pictures of the food for you to offer but that will be updated because I'm definitely coming back! So if you are Vegan it's a must! And if you are here during this month then come, let's gently sing and be and have that Vegan chai! ( because let's face it - likely, I...
