Review of Birthday Party at Babumoshai Banquet Hall – 5th July 2025
We had a mixed experience hosting my son's birthday party at Babumoshai Banquet Hall, scheduled from 7 p.m. onwards on 5th July 2025. I call it “mixed” and not “bad” only because our guests were largely unaware of the behind-the-scenes mismanagement and genuinely enjoyed the evening. However, as hosts, we were left disappointed and stressed due to several lapses by the venue’s management.
Poor Event Coordination and Lack of Professionalism The booking was handled by Mr. Arindam Banerjee, who was very courteous and responsive prior to the event. Unfortunately, this changed on the day of the party. Despite promising to be present at the venue from 5 p.m., he was completely absent and did not check in even once to ensure things were running smoothly. This lack of ownership and accountability was the first red flag.
Last-Minute Venue Access and Decoration Delays I visited the venue at around 12 noon to oversee the decorations, expecting the decorator to begin work and complete it by 3 p.m., as discussed earlier. To my surprise, I was informed that a corporate event was underway and the hall would not be available until 4 p.m. In reality, it was handed over after 5 p.m., giving the decorators barely enough time before our arrival at 6 p.m. I later learned that three events were scheduled on the same day — ours being the last — which likely caused this mismanagement and made our event feel like an afterthought.
Lack of Handover to On-Ground Coordinator Mr. Aniket was the person overseeing things during the event, but he was unaware of the earlier discussions and commitments, including the final menu. This communication gap created further confusion and delays.
Delay in Food Service The party was scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., with welcome drinks and starters to be served from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. However, nothing was ready at 7 p.m. Despite repeated follow-ups, welcome drinks were only served around 7:30 p.m., and starters arrived as late as 8:15 p.m.
Incomplete Arrangements for Juggler We had arranged a juggling show for the kids. The juggler had requested a table, which was communicated during booking. A table was eventually arranged, but without a tablecloth. Despite asking three times, no table cover was provided — a small but frustrating oversight.
Missing Menu Items and Incorrect Dishes At 7:30 p.m., I was shown the dinner menu and noticed that Chicken Butter Masala, a key item, was missing. After pointing this out, it was added, but served with bone-in chicken — even though boneless chicken was specifically requested and confirmed earlier.
Deviation in Prawn Dish One of the highlight dishes, Prawns Malai Curry, was to be made with large Tiger Prawns (Bagda Chingri) served on sticks. Instead, it was prepared using smaller Galda prawns, and without the skewers. This was particularly disappointing, as it was the most expensive item on the menu.
Misti Paan Not Served on Time Towards the end of the evening, we realized that Misti Paan, included in the final menu, hadn’t been served. It was hastily arranged only after we raised the issue, by which time several guests had already left.
The Positives To give credit where it's due, the food was indeed delicious, and the service staff were polite and hardworking. The chef deserves appreciation for maintaining good taste and quality.
Final Thoughts While the guests went home happy, we as hosts were left with a bitter experience due to the stress and mismanagement. Hosting an event involves enough responsibilities without having to chase the venue staff for basics that were already promised.
I sincerely hope the higher management takes this feedback seriously and implements stricter protocols and communication practices. Babumoshai Banquet Hall has the potential to be a great venue, but with such lapses in execution and indifferent handling of commitments, they risk losing customer trust and...

Read moreFirst of all, we ordered mutton burra kebab as a STARTER. Mr. Pintu took the order and went away. He came back after 15,20 min WHEN WE CALLED(please note, not on his own) and said it will take 30 mins atleast to make it. Shouldnt he have told this to us when we ordered the item ? Who is suppose to inform ? Who comes after 20 min that too when being called and tells that it will take time. All starters he said will take minimum 30 mins. We could have made choices earlier if we knew. Then he said we can order dry mutton bhuna something as starter THOUGH THE ITEM WAS IN MAIN COURSE. He was a bit impolite and stubborn - kept saying people also order dry chilli chicken as starter no big deal (sort of, ofcourse we spoke in Bengali). Why would you say that, I mean first you don't share approx time then you ask us to order something from main course and then insist that it can be transformed into proper starter. "Even the manager came after that and assured the same thing". Though he was overall polite and understanding. I don't think anyone there knows, what a starter is. The dish picture I have shared. If you see you will know a semi gravy item came which I then ate with butter naan coz it fits best with that. It was never a starter it can't be ! All foods taste good. But staff behaviour staff knowledge staff body language is not nice. Why so rigid if you don't know it's okay but don't deny.
And MOST IMPORTANTLY in Swiggy they have 20% discount option + free dessert clearly written on pre booking/table booking. But when you go and ask for it they just give icecream which is never a real dessert and also in their menu card DESSERTS doesn't have icecream mentioned there are many other desserts mentioned from where they are supposed to serve something of their choice. The staff and manager kept saying same thing 'we offer only icecream'. Arey bhai when you offer only icecream then why are you misleading people by saying free dessert, just write free icecream on Swiggy zomato. Also they didn't have any other paid dessert in stock even if someone wants to buy and eat. Irresponsible owner and social media team I would say or people who manage zomato/Swiggy, as well as such staffs ! Please work on the whole thing. The owner should just gear up a bit ! Staff apologized but am not angry. M just concerned coz we all are paying for something as well. Just like they are...
