I recently visited A2B near Vikravandi Toll Plaza, a location that’s quite well-known and often serves as a midpoint for travelers. Given the brand reputation and its 4.0 rating on Google, I expected a decent experience. Unfortunately, my visit was far from satisfactory.
To begin with, I chose a table to sit at, only to be told by a server that I couldn’t be served there as it was “reserved” for a group still dining. I was asked to wait until they finished, even though no such system or signage was in place. The way the staff communicated this was not polite — in fact, it came across as quite arrogant.
There was absolutely no queue system or seating protocol in place. Unlike restaurants in Chennai where customers are seated based on arrival order and staff guide the process, here it was complete chaos. Customers were left to fend for themselves, standing behind tables and trying to grab a spot as if attending a crowded marriage hall. This is unacceptable for a restaurant of A2B’s reputation.
Customer service here was disappointing. The staff were neither welcoming nor respectful. It felt like they were doing us a favor rather than serving paying customers. There was no sense of hospitality or order, which is shocking for a place under such a well-known brand.
For comparison, just across the road, Vasantha Bhavan has a 4.4 rating with a higher number of reviews — and rightly so. I have experienced much better service and customer handling there. That alone says a lot about the slipping standards at this particular A2B branch.
This review is not to bring down the brand but to help the management take notice and correct these issues. A2B is known for quality and customer satisfaction, especially in cities like Chennai. I hope this feedback helps bring this outlet back in line with those standards so travelers like me can enjoy a proper meal experience without...
Read moreMy recent visit to Adyar Ananda Bhavan left much to be desired, as the renowned establishment failed to live up to its reputation for exceptional South Indian cuisine. Located in a bustling neighborhood, this eatery promises authentic flavors and a memorable dining experience, but unfortunately, it fell short on several fronts.
Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by a chaotic atmosphere, with long queues and disorganized seating arrangements. Despite the bustling crowd, the staff seemed overwhelmed and struggled to maintain order, resulting in delays and confusion.
The ambiance inside Adyar Ananda Bhavan was lackluster, with outdated decor and cramped seating adding to the overall discomfort. The noise level was excessive, making it difficult to carry on a conversation or enjoy a peaceful meal.
However, the most disappointing aspect of my experience was the quality of the food. Despite the restaurant's reputation for authentic South Indian cuisine, the dishes I sampled were bland and uninspired. From the lackluster dosas to the soggy vadas, every bite left much to be desired. Even the chutneys and sambar, which are typically highlights of South Indian cuisine, were lackluster and lacked depth of flavor.
Service was another area where Adyar Ananda Bhavan fell short. Despite the restaurant being understaffed, the few servers seemed disinterested and inattentive, often forgetting orders and neglecting to check on diners'...

However, one of the highlights of our visit was definitely the coffee. It was simply amazing and perfectly brewed. The aroma and the taste were top-notch, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting A2B.
Apart from the food, the ambiance of the restaurant was quite pleasant. The spaciousness of the hotel ensured that we did not feel cramped or uncomfortable. The cleanliness was also impeccable, and the staff was friendly and courteous.
