During a recent visit to Tambaram, Chennai, we had the delightful opportunity to dine at the famous Dindigul Thalappakatti restaurant, a name that needs no introduction among lovers of authentic South Indian biryani. Known for its rich legacy and commitment to traditional flavors, this restaurant once again lived up to its stellar reputation. We were on a tight schedule, with a train to catch at 1:00 PM, and decided to head to the restaurant at around 11:45 AM. Despite the time crunch, the entire experience was seamless, flavorful, and satisfying — a true culinary journey packed into a short yet memorable lunch.

The moment we stepped into the restaurant, the aroma of spices, ghee, and slow-cooked meats set our expectations high. We began our feast with chicken legs starter, which was incredibly juicy and well-marinated. The outer crust was crisp, while the inside was tender and flavorful, clearly reflecting the meticulous marination and cooking techniques. It had the perfect balance of spice and texture — enough to ignite your palate but still allow you to enjoy the layers of taste in the meat.

Following that, we were served the chicken varumula curry, a dish that deserves special mention. The gravy was thick, rich in South Indian spices, and deeply satisfying. The chicken pieces were soft and well-cooked, soaked in the masala so thoroughly that each bite melted in the mouth. The aroma itself was enough to whet our appetite further, and the curry paired wonderfully with both biryanis we ordered. It stood out as a traditional yet unique preparation, something that reminded us of home-cooked meals with a restaurant-style finesse.

When it came to biryanis, we chose Chicken 65 Biryani and Naidu Mutton Biryani, two of their signature offerings. The Chicken 65 Biryani was a delightful fusion, with crispy, spicy chicken pieces nestled in the flavorful biryani rice. Each grain of rice was infused with the right amount of masala, and the chicken added a delicious twist to the traditional biryani format. However, the showstopper was undoubtedly the Naidu Mutton Biryani. The mutton was cooked to perfection — tender, succulent, and falling off the bone. The flavor of the meat had beautifully seeped into the rice, resulting in a heavenly combination that was rich, aromatic, and deeply comforting. The spices used were robust yet not overwhelming, and every spoonful was a burst of authentic Dindigul flavor.

To complement the meal, we ordered lemon soda, which served as a perfect palate cleanser. It was refreshing and just the right mix of tangy and fizzy, offering a cool break between the spicy bites. It helped us balance the rich flavors of the meal and added a refreshing touch to the entire dining experience.

Another highlight worth mentioning was the exceptional service. Despite the restaurant being moderately busy, the staff was quick, courteous, and efficient. Our food was served promptly, which was crucial given our tight travel schedule. From ordering to billing, everything was handled with professionalism and speed. We were able to finish our meal well in time for our train, which we had at 1:00 PM. The efficiency of the service staff ensured we were out and ready to go without any delay — an often underrated but deeply appreciated aspect of dining out.

In conclusion, our experience at Dindigul Thalappakatti in Tambaram was nothing short of fantastic. Every dish we tried stood out in its own right, and the consistency in taste, quality, and service reaffirmed why this chain continues to enjoy such a loyal following. As always, Dindigul didn’t disappoint. It’s not just a restaurant for us — it’s an emotion, a go-to place that guarantees satisfaction. If you're in Tambaram and craving authentic biryani with great service, look no further than Dindigul Thalappakatti. We left with full hearts, full stomachs, and the satisfaction of a well-spent lunch before boarding our train — done and dusted, just the...

After a long time my daughter wanted her to be treated in thalapakatti. With great expectations I reached this branch. no parking space for more than 3 cars , but you will get a valet parking so we are good. Sunday is not a good option for thalapakatti, too much of waiting time to find a table. The taste has definitely changed from great to ok now like most of the other branches and great brands with business mindset cropping in every where. The dish that i ordered kollam chicken is very bad, with coconut oil added to it but I felt it was bitter.. And starter including biriyani was not hot. Egg shell was all over the egg. You might notice tiny bone pieces, so please be careful while giving it small kids. 7.mutton taste is below average and over cooked. This is my opinion may be i need to try sometime other than weekend. Pls note there were days where I step in at 12 pm buy bucket biryani and eat that 3 times till next day morning. Still the longing to eat more.I am waiting for those days but can't eat to the same amount I do earlier but definitely 3 times.

The senior person was kind enough to get the suggestions , not sure whether those will be...

The quantity of food is not adequate, too low in quality and quantity..

I order for chicken varuval.. They given me different order, they informed me about this.. So I also accepted it but it's too low in quality and quantity..

Like this is the way did Dindigul thalappakatti serves to the customers?

This is too bad experience from that Dindigul thalappakatti..

And my order ID #84296509850

After changing the product also the quality and quantity of this product is highly waste, and waste of money.. And it's too high in salt..

Check the picture I have uploaded..

And I need the correct information why Dindigul thalappakatti is doing like first before ordering the product they are showing the product is available.. Then after delivery man going to restaurant.. They are saying product is not available.

If the product is finished or not present they have to mention it as this product is not available today..

Here’s a polished short and professional version of your review in English: --- Review: The food quality and taste have improved a lot since my last visit. Everything was delicious and well-prepared. The only suggestion is for the serving staff to be a bit more patient—dishes were being served too quickly before finishing the previous one. With a little more attentiveness, the overall dining experience would be perfect. Here’s your review translated into English with a neat review style: --- I ordered Mutton Leg Soup, Mutton Biryani, KFC-style Fried Fish, and Coconut Pudding. Mutton Leg Soup – It was okay. Mutton Biryani – Average in taste, but compared to before, now they serve a few extra pieces of mutton, which is a good thing. KFC-style Fried Fish – Absolutely delicious, really well made. Coconut Pudding – Excellent and tasty. Overall, the soup and biryani were just okay, but the fried fish and pudding were outstanding and worth trying.
