"I recently visited Kaliakudi Veg Restaurant and was impressed by the ambiance. The place is clean, well-lit, and has a pleasant atmosphere that makes dining enjoyable. The staff was polite and courteous, ensuring that customers felt welcomed and attended to.
However, my experience with the food was disappointing. I opted for a takeaway order of barota, veg biryani, and curd rice. While the curd rice was fresh, flavorful, and enjoyable, the other items were far from satisfactory. The barota was dry and lacked the softness one would expect, making it difficult to eat. The veg biryani was even more disappointing—it lacked flavor, and the texture of the rice was not up to the mark. It seemed poorly prepared, leaving much to be desired in terms of taste and quality.
Given the restaurant's good ambiance and polite staff, I had higher expectations for the food. Unfortunately, the lack of consistency in the quality of the dishes overshadowed the positives. It’s clear that more attention needs to be given to food preparation and ensuring that all items on the menu meet a certain standard.
While the curd rice was a saving grace, the overall experience left me feeling unsatisfied. I hope the management takes steps to improve the quality of their food, as the restaurant has great potential. For now, I’d recommend dining in for the ambiance but suggest caution when ordering...
Read moreAm not sure if mayiladuthurai has more than one kaliyakudi. Because when i visited mayiladuthurai in the noon, i was searching for some good restaurants nearby and read Google reviews and visited the restaurant with great belief. Had biriyani which was really rice and masala powder mixed raw with some raw onions. Since the biriyani was a disaster, thought of trying parotta. A plate is a single piece paortta there which was too big like oothappam. To my surprise, all Google reviews were too good. The ones who wrote the reviews would not have experienced a good food ever before. All these over hype reviews results in the price hike even in these kind of hotels. A paortta was billed as 50 rupees. And those guys altered a very old hotel with some false ceiling and started collecting tax also. A request to who ever writes reviews on any restaurant. Please write a review by hearing to what your tongue says and nit to hear to someone and go to the restaurant with a very positive mind and write a very positive review, though the food served...
Read moreFirst mention goes to the one who served us, extraordinary care and love in how he decided to serve us dinner. He explained and suggested how much to order. My brother ordered for one 'Kaima Parotta' and one 'Chola Poori', he asked him to see the quantity of 'Kaima Parotta' and then decide if he would be able to eat Chola and he didn't leave it at that but apologized for disappointing him with quantity. He kept asking if we would like something more and took care of us like his own guests. I feel bad for not asking his name.
Now coming to the taste of food, it was straight simple south indian dinner, crispy dosas, super fragrant ghee roast, red chilli spiced tomato chutney(dip), green chilli spiced coconut chutney (dip) and kaliyakudi style thick shallot sambar. Kaima Parotta was super soft and melting in the mouth, not like usual Parotta at all. Parking can be done near a school/church in the same road, Otherwise just park the car in the hotel you stay and...
