I was going through the other reviews before writing mine. But I am surprised to note that only the negative reviews are upvoted heavily for some reason. Some social engineering at work here :) Anyway, I have attempted to be factual below
You have to get a token from the billing. Then depending on what you get, the food counters are in three different places with separate queues for each one of them. And queues aren't enforced in anyway. When the place is crowded, it is a tiring experience before you finally get your food and sit. And sorry to say this, the billing staff don't read the room. They don't intend to speed up despite seeing the number of crowd waiting at the counter. At least enforce the queue!
They take only cash. Really crazy in this age. Some unprepared folks are lost when they get to the billing. I helped out one guy with INR 500 and he sent the money to me on UPI
Items are really overpriced considering the poor experience. They should be 30% lower. To be fair, they also have a cheaper eatery nearby and the ingredients used here are premium. But it doesn't make a difference. Drop the price or drop the attitude!
Staff can be rude sometimes. And there is no tracking of the orders and it is upto you to wait and locate your food
The main thing going for this place is the captive customers who would pay for the ambience and food irrespective since they are far out from the city without too much options
Some tips
I have eaten here more than once here over the several years. The place unfortunately has the attitude and pricing of an AC fine dine restaurant but the overall dining experience is lower than that of a non AC medium restaurant. At this price point, they either should have this as a full service restaurant and/or have AC. Irrespective, they should streamline process here. But they don't have the incentive to do it because of...

Restaurant having very nice items to eat. Very Calm, clean and neat place. Self service. I suggest you to just sit down on the floor, near some pillars in case if you need to lean on, and enjoy your food in peace.
Menu includes Fresh juices, beverages, snacks, dry fruits and confectionery items. Especially recommended are the "ragi" cookies - cookies made from millet and jaggery.
A variety of vegetarian Indian dishes such dosa, upma, idli and rice are available. I think the rates are reasonable but some menu items may feel like costlier. If your palette is unused to Indian dishes, it is best to avoid the main courses dishes which may be slightly on the oily and spicy side. If you like to start your day with a cup of tea or coffee, this is the place to head to in the ashram. If you are looking for something a little different, you can try out the herbal tea and the "sukku" coffee (coffee with ginger extract) which are quite tasty.
We stayed in Ashram so we had meals in Biksha Hall, but we tried Carrot cake, Masala Tea. And one most important thing, keep cash handy because they don’t offer card swipes or cashless services....
Read moreOne of the worst food I've ever had in my life. Food is extremely overpriced, bland and tasteless. This is what happens when you have a monopoly without any competition, and people are forced to buy food from you. This food isn't even fit for dogs. The free dinner provided to the visitors and volunteers is a million times better than the food over here. And the cherry on top, is that the servers are extremely arrogant. This was a shock, as everyone else in the ashram are so happy, smiling and peaceful. We bought 2 mushroom pulaos, and asked for an extra spoon. He bluntly refused to give an extra wooden spoon and asked me "Why do you want it". After charging exorbitant rates, these clowns can't even provide an extra spoon for us to share the food. What a joke. Kindly remove these caterers(i assume) before they ruin the name of...
