It is true that Ambur style of Biriyani is synonymous with Star Biriyani, but there are other equally delicious options available in Ambur city, that apparently i discovered is also famous for good quality leather products that are affordable.
But our focus is just on the Biriyani today, and the story during our trip back from Chennai and made a pitstop at this trending, and popular Biriyani place, called Rahamaniya, Ambur.
The plan was to try out Ambur Biriyani & Vaniyambadi Biriyani and do a comparison, which will be out on my Insta page soon, but for now let’s stick to Rahanania.
Thankfully they have a branch bang on the main road and I packed up some Biriyanis for a luncheon at BIL’s place in Hosur.
Though it was a take away, the service was impeccable, quick billing, faster packaging and courteous staff offering you a seat or a glass of water, multiple times while I waited.
I packed both mutton and chicken biryani with a couple of starters, with a plan to pack a few more Biriyanis from another hotel in vaniyambadi.
The verdict, fabulous Biriyani, extremely flavourful and very decent portions for the price. The signature short grain Muslim style Biriyani, that was high on flavour and low on spice, just what I expected and Rahamania delivered it perfectly on a plate. Highly recommended to anyone travelling through Ambur #apjprecommends
The fish fingers were decent and the Chicken Kebabs were great, but nothing beats the great Biriyani that they served, the Best Ambur Biriyani ever.
BIL did challenge me that I will change my mind if I try the Ambur outlet of Star Biriyani, well I can’t wait to try that out and proved wrong, until then Happy Ambur...
Read moreMy friend and I had planned to go to Ambur from a long time and so finally on the weekend of oct 12 we decided to tick this box. As anbur is mainly known for it's Biryani and leather goods , we planned to explore both. When I searched for best biryani, the first one that came up tye list was Rahmaniya. We reached Ambur around 10 in the morning. Most of the shops were just about to open and we entered few leather goods shops until 11: 30 . While doing so we came across the original rahmaniya biryani shop near the market area and they were loading biryani filled drums and transporting to , I believe the new outlet near the highway. We couldn't resist and so went straight inside the rahmaniya biryani at 12 noon , the one near the highway. I guess we were one among the first to enter the restaurant. As we rested ourselves on a table, the servers came and placed Banana plantain and offered the menu . I ordered a chicken biryani and my friend ordered a Mutton biryani . To go along with it they also suggested Mutton Nalli. Soon after ordering the food was served as we had seen near the market that everything was already sent to this place. Ok so now for the food , it was tasty though we were not so hungry at this time so it was surely not the hunger that spoke for the food. The chicken and Mutton in the biryani were fresh. Even the Mutton Nalli was delicious. I didn't like the ambience of the place. And even the servers were looking at us as we were seated nest to the counter. It was as if we were being watched during the entire time we were there. Nevertheless it's definitely worth having a biryani if you were to pass by the highway to Chennai...
Read moreA nostalgic experience!!! Its been almost 13 years since I've been travelling on the road between Chennai and other cities, it's always been a ritual to stop in Ambur and enjoy the star biriyani , their service used to be fantastic and over the years it's declined to a point where I don't want to stop in Ambur, a friend suggested I try Rahmani ! I was skeptical and voila memories hit me like a truck ! It was as though I travelled back in time and experienced Ambur biryani for the first time....their customer service is great and their biryani is just wow. The beauty behind Ambur biryani is the fact that it doesn't make you full and less on spices but yet the biryani experience is complete, the mutton meat in yhe biriyani literally fell off the bones and melts in the mouth ! The mutton chukka adds an oomph factor succulent mutton fried in a tawa with a ton of onions and red chilli... Do go there for a nostalgic experience of what customer service is and biryani lovers don't miss this place. They don't disappoint with you covid rules as well, all servers are masked and believe me they santiize often ! Never seen this happen in any other restaurant ! Hygiene levels are great, loo is pretty clean and they do have Staff engaged to ensure the customer has a greta experience.
Please don't follow the footsteps of star biriyani on the expansion and screw up the true customer service experience which you give ! A + 100 year old restuarant living to their name !
Note : I was so engrossed with the service and food that I missed to click a picture of the food. My very...
