Please give Ms. Devi a promotion or a raise. Her skills are wasted as a waiter. Please do read the full story:
We were traveling the whole day so we wanted to have an early dinner and then drive home. We were at the restaurant by around 6:30 pm, so we were ready for some delay in receiving our orders. What we did not expect was the poor quality of service. We ordered 2 starters (gobi manchurian, kebabs) and before they arrived, we ordered the main course also (schz fried rice, kulcha, 2 phulka, 2 gravies). Only one starter arrived first and after we finished eating that, we waited for another 10 minutes with an empty banana leaf and wet fingers for the other starter. After eating that, we waited for 15-20 minutes for the main course, which is ok since we came early. When the food came, the waiter had brought only the schz fried rice. Wouldn't the bread items usually come first along with the gravies? When we told him we ordered gravies also as a side dish, he went and brought a ketchup bottle. When we repeated "gravies", he just nodded and left. No words, no ETA given for the gravies or breads. He didn't serve the rice to our plates, but even that is fine. We served it for ourselves and waited even longer for the rest of the order. All this, while taking very small bites of the fried rice, because if we finished the rice what would we do with the gravy? No waiter was responding properly after this.
Then a female staff member who was a tamilian passed by and we told her what happened and the items that were pending. Immediately she took action. She said sternly "idhar kaun dekh raha hai" in hindi to the north indian waiters. She went into the kitchen for barely 30 seconds, came back and assured us food will be here within 5 minutes. She offered to give us a fresh, hot order of the schz fried rice too, which we agreed to at first and then declined since we didn't want to waste the food. Then in quick succession all the items: gravies and the breads arrived, and they were piping hot too. She was never to be seen again on our side of the restaurant. Turns out she was waiting for tables on the other side of the hall. So she took no credit, no nonsense talk like, enjoy the food or sorry for the delays, etc which wouldn't have mattered to us at that point either. She just let us enjoy the delicious food. In short, she was passing by, noticed something was wrong that was over and above her responsibilities, she solved the problem swiftly, and went right back to her duties on the other side. I am dumbfounded by her presence of mind, problem solving skills, communication, and multitasking. I, by myself went and asked her name before leaving and asked if I could post a review with her name. Ms. Devi, a true asset to the team and a gem of a human being. My suggestion to the managers/owners: Make her the supervisor if she isn't one already and let her train the seemingly newer staff members. Don't even think of firing her even in the toughest times because your restaurant business will go down the...

Read moreIt is medium sized restaurant on the busy highway connecting Chennai to Bangalore. It is on the corner plot at Tirumazhisai signal where the vehicles take a turn towards Tiruvallur/Tirupati road. It has ample parking space for around 40 cars and few bikes. There are rest rooms in the parking area. The dining area can accomodate around 150 people and a bit cramped space. Instrumental music is played but difficult to listen. I have visited it for breakfast, brunch, lunch, evening snacks and dinner. It is crowded usually during lunch hours and dinner time with a waiting period of around 30 minutes. They accept credit cards, debit cards and UPI payments along with cash transactions . The food is tasty but takes a lot of time. Few items are missed during order or wrong item is delivered. It happened with few milkshakes and tiffin items recently. I had Sangeetha Special Meals and they said that it will be ready only by noon. I had reached the venue at 11:45 but had to wait till 12:20 to be served. It was a lavish spread with many items but vegetable component was very minimal. My family loves the fried rice and gobi manchurian dry at this venue. I am happy with the flavors and they must improve their...
