I want to tell about the pathetic and very rude service, I and my family experienced. Based on a friend’s suggestion we visited this place as it was Brahmin catering, which gave an assurance of vegetarian. The server heaped the rice and then poured sambar which overflowed on the banana leaf. Later the owner of the shop asked the server “why did you do like this?”. The server said its not my fault and they couldn’t put the rice properly. Firstly server didn’t tell what he was going to put on my plate and simply poured it.
Later he rudely (very very rudely) asked “enna venum” which was so bad that the mood went off and we couldn’t eat food properly. I called the server and asked what is his problem and why is he behaving like that?, he said you couldn’t put rice properly and i am getting shouting from the owner. I explained him that i didn’t expect what you were going to put on my plate and not aware that you would throw food on my plate.
I am paying my hard earned money for food and service and you are behaving as if you were doing a favor.
Firstly learn some manners, you are not above anyone and you being in 50’s cannot treat a 75 year old like this. I badly want to cuss you for the way you behaved, but I am refraining from doing so. Learn to stick to the roots and behave yourself. Remember- “WHAT YOU SEE IN OTHERS, EXISTS IN YOU”.
Food was okay. For me the rice was little watery, probably it was freshly taken out from the cooker. Kootu was okay (no spice no salt and texture tasted like kids porridge). Sambar, papad and curry were good. Except for the rice remaining stay at 3 stars.
Do I recommend this? “DEFINITELY NOT”
Suggestion to the friend who advised me this place? “Please de-list this from your suggestions”
Food cost: 130 rs
Items: beans curry, kootu, sambar, moru, white...
Read moreI recently visited a small mess named Raman mess met Mr Sridharan (let’s call it “Mami Mess”) that really lived up to its promises of home-cooked style meals, clean surroundings, and friendly service. Here’s my detailed take:
⸻
What I Liked Most Taste & Authenticity The food had a comforting, homey flavour — lentils were cooked just right, vegetables were fresh and not overcooked, and even simple dishes like dal, sabzi, and rice tasted like something a mother would make at home. They don’t try to over-spice or mask with heavy masalas, which keeps the natural flavours intact. Hygiene & Cleanliness • The kitchen was visibly clean: utensils, cooking pots, and workspace looked well-maintained. • Staff wore aprons/hair nets (or at least kept their hair tied) and washed hands before cooking / serving. • Serving plates and glasses were properly cleaned, no stains or leftover food particles. • Dining area was tidy: no stray flies, floors swept, tables wiped. Quality of Ingredients They use fresh produce (vegetables crisp, not wilted), and the pulses / lentils tasted fresh (no stale smell). Oils used were modest; food didn’t feel greasy. The ingredients seemed good quality, not cheap or overly processed. Service & Ambience Because it’s a small mess, the owner/staff are more personal. The service is attentive, and you feel seen — if something is off (too much salt, or dish is a bit spicy), they are okay to adjust. The space itself is simple but enough ventilation, decent lighting, good seating. Doesn’t feel cramped or stuffy. Value for Money Portions are reasonable, prices are fair. Given the quality + hygiene, you feel you’re getting more than what you pay for. There are no hidden charges or...
