The food was okay. I had the vegan omelette platter for about 300 rupees. The bread was delicious, if a little dry and thick. The vegan omelette and vegetables were quite bland without the sauce. I think the dish needs more flavour variety. The sauce was spread very thinly across the two thick bread slices. The tofu slices were delicious.
I also had a vegan choco cookie for 90 rupees. It was tasty but a little hard.
My coffee (iced mocha with soy milk for about 250 rupees) was excellent. The chocolate is dark and rich, and I noticed only the natural sweetness; the drink was more bitter cocoa tasting, which I love! Most places have excessively sweet mochas / hot chocolates because they use a processed chocolate powder which has too much sugar in it.
The atmosphere is cool! It's the neatest and cleanest place I've seen in Auroville. Similar vibes to Bread and Chocolate, but much quieter when I visited on Friday at 11am (it is much further removed from the busy main road). The style is definitely flat white minimalism, and I personally think it could do with some indoor plants to make it less bland.
You get a 1 hour Wifi voucher with each order.
I would come back for coffee and the clean air-conditioned space, but would not re-order the vegan omelette platter.
I hope this review...
Read moreVisited Sprouts cafe on 25th Jan 2025 on recommendation from my friends. Bought hibiscus and ginger fermented beverage. We wanted to try their menu but it was late already (2000hrs) and they seemed not to have anything that's freshly prepared available. We stood there staring around the cafe for 10 minutes trying to decide what to order. The guy behind the counter (billing guy) neither adviced us nor answered our queries. He was very reluctant to attend to us. So we ended up ordering only the beverages which I liked it but my friend couldn't finish it (maybe it was not upto his palate). Secondly, the pic was taken right in front of the cafe. At that time there was no other cafe open in that complex. So, your cold reply that 'it's the cafe next to sprouts cafe' is a distasteful and unprofessional remark. I agree that our timing of visit may not be appropriate as it was closing time (I assume), but it doesn't mean you ignore the customers and give them a cold look and treatment. There were 2-3 other customers who visited after us. This review is only for the experience I had at that particular time of the day. Any review should be taken constructively to improve your service. Owners must know that their workers are not really doing justice to their job which might hinder reputation...
