Vaira Maaligai Restaurant — Restaurant in Tamil Nadu

In terms of food quality and taste, one of the best restaurants in Tirunelveli but the same cannot be said about their hospitality. As soon as you finish you food, the waiters are so desperate to remove you from the cubicle and seat the next set of customers, that they dont even let you remain seated for dessert. They keep bugging you to order desserts quickly and if you order ice creams, they force you to move from your cubicle to the waiting area near reception. This spoilt the entire experience although the food served was delicious.

We had Mutton briyani, Naan, Chicken garlic and manchurian and all the items were very good but the quantity served is less for the price. The fish fingers they serve is hands down the best I have ever had.

But their hospitality towards the end left a soar taste, so much so that the next time I am thinking of picking a restaurant to dine in, I dont think I will be choosing here.

P.S. When ordering food order everything you need in one go, because the second order you make in middle of the meal wont be good from my experience. We ordered Chicken Chettinadu towards the end and I am not even sure what we received ( order came in just...

literally we don't have any idea about the hotel and their dishes, so ask them for their specials got answers as Mutton briyani, grill chicken, parotta, so we straight away go with their choice. orders Mutton Briyani - 3/5 - not up to the mark mutton over cooked.

Grill Chicken - 4/5 - well cooked with tenderness and Flavor full.

Parotta - 2.5/5 - really not liked as can say inside/ center part really doughiest and not cooked and outer layer very crisp.

Parotta Saalna - 4.5/5 - it is the most liked dish which we had in that restaurant, very authentic, flavorful, tasty, tip of tongue spiciness. MUST TRY!

schezwan fried rice - 2/5 - worst food, not seems like schezwan flavor instead it seems like day fish sambal flavor, but i should appreciate their action and provided replacement of Parotta instated of the the rice.

I was waiting to try this hotel after seeing some of the reviews in Where Chennai eats facebook page. But this hotel is located in Tirunelveli at Vannarapettai. So i planned to add this place to my tour list and stayed here on my way back to Chennai from Kanyakumari. Went to this hotel with much expectations but they did not disappoint me. Most of their dishes tasted good right from soup, mutton kola urundai, Nethili fry, Mutton Biryani, Rasam and buttermilk. A very special mention to their Nethili fish, Rasam and Buttermilk.
