A truly delightful experience awaits you if you are a biriyani-lover. Last year I lived in Palayamkottai for a few months and had the pleasure of dining here several times, for both vegetarian and non-veg meals. Like I said, the biriyani is one-of-a-kind in Tirunelveli/Palayamkottai neighborhood. What makes the biriyani so special? First, the ghee/oil they use is just the right amount, and next, the mutton in the biriyani is cooked so perfectly -- not too soft, not too raw. The mutton fry and fish fry are delicious, as is the chicken popcorn dish.
The ambience is good, the rooms, tables, and yes, the sinks are reasonably clean. The servers are quite friendly. (And if you tip fairly, you'll get a good reception the next time around!).
One small problem is if you go there on weekends, especially at rush hour, you'll wind up waiting for a while not only to get seated, but to get your order, as you salivate watching your neighbors gobbling up the tasty dishes. But I think that is THE time to go as your food is likely fresher than at other times. (I consider this waiting time a nice opportunity to socialize and get to know the neighbors). Price is understandably a bit more expensive than the suburbs, but well worth it. And after a heavy meal, you'd love to cool down your digestive tracks with a masala tea.
As you walk out of the hotel, don't forget to try the paan (betel nut+spices) outside the hotel.
Update: 23/3/2021 --- I visited the restaurant again and tried the biriyani.. The experience was a bit disappointing. I heard the head cook moved to another hotel. It is still good, but not great like...

Myself and my cousin had gone to have lunch here. There were no menu card or rates mentioned anywhere. We asked for the options in Non veg and they said they have Fish meal, Non veg meal and Biriyani. We opted for one Fish meal and Non veg meal. They started to serve starting with two bowls. One was Chicken curry and the other one was Fish curry. We assumed it's part of the meals. Then, they started to serve the other varieties such as Rice and poriyal. Few minutes later, they gave fish fry. We thought it's all a part of Meals. They didn't even speak or ask anything.
When we received the bill, we were shocked to see that a fish fry (240) and Chicken chukka (205) were added in it.
We asked for 2 meals (fish and Chicken) we received a bill amount of 698 Rupees including taxes. They clearly trapped and cheated us. Please ask for the price before...
