Hotel Konkani Katta (हॉटेल कोंकणी कट्टा) — Restaurant in Thane

Giving 1 star because minus star rating is not available. Selecting this restaurant to eat was the worst mistake of my life. We had ordered Prawns thali and Surmai thali which was not mentioned in the menu card but the staff explained that we will get prawns fry, prawns gravy. When the thalis finally arrived on our table, we were disappointed to see only Prawns fry, gravy with no prawns in it, dry prawns dish and dal rice. What kind of a chef serves dal rice in fish thali????!! And chapati was as flat as a tissue paper. We didn utter a word as we were very much hungry. When we saw the bill, our eyes popped out to see that they had charged 750 for Surmai thali and 550 for Prawns thali which is not at all worth and is way too costly than all other better restaurants.

The only good thing about this restaurant is the ambience, huge space and nice interior. But just because their restaurant is situated in Dosti Imperia where the shop rent is very high, they cant do this injustice with their innocent customers.

They must stop this if they want to survive in thane where there are many other seafood restaurants with much better quality, quantity and reasonable price.

My suggestion to the staff : Please visit the restaurant 'Hodi' once, then you will automatically understand where you are lacking in terms of overall service. I hope you will learn something...

The welcoming environment in the restaurant makes you feel like you at your home. So we had the kothimbir vadi and veg cutlet as starters along with some kokum sharbat. We totally loved the homely touch they put to every dish and the taste was amazing. Coming to the main course we have the famous kombdi vade. So kombdi means chicken curry with vade that is puffed puri. The texture of the curry and the juicy chicken with some mosit vade. We could not ask for anything authentic than this. The surmai fry potion size was great and taste was so good. We also had some prawns curry with rice bhakri. The velvet texture of the coconut prawn curry and with soft bhakri was a whole experience in itself, to wash our palate they gave us with some solkadhi. Coming to the fav part was having some hot hot hand made Modak with some ghee on it. We guess in every Maharashtrian food there is nothing compared to Modak. The food had an homely touch to it. Pathetic service. Seemed like an eternity had passed since placing the order and being served. Quality was mediocre. Absolutely disgusting experience. Worst part was that the management did not seem to be bothered at all regarding the concern one of their customer was raising. I believe the management will be prompt in replying to this review here but thats only because this is in public domain.
