Located in the heart of Trichy, Hotel Kannappa is a popular destination for food enthusiasts who crave authentic South Indian cuisine. During my recent visit to Trichy, I had the pleasure of dining at this renowned restaurant, and I must say, it did not disappoint!

Ambience: The ambience of Hotel Kannappa is warm and inviting. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I was greeted by the friendly staff and led to my table. The décor was simple yet elegant, with comfortable seating arrangements and a pleasant atmosphere that made me feel right at home.

Food: The menu at Hotel Kannappa offers an extensive selection of dishes from the famous Chettinad cuisine, known for its rich flavors and unique spice blends. I decided to try their signature dishes, and I was in for a treat!

For starters, I ordered the Nattu Kozhi Varuval, which is a spicy and flavorful chicken fry. The chicken was cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior and juicy interior, and the masala coating was a burst of flavors that left my taste buds tingling.

For the main course, I opted for the Chettinad Meen Kuzhambu, which is a fish curry cooked in a traditional Chettinad style. The curry was rich and aromatic, with a perfect balance of tanginess and spiciness. The fish was fresh and succulent, and it absorbed the flavors of the curry beautifully. I also ordered a side of Parotta, a flaky layered bread that complemented the curry perfectly.

To accompany my meal, I tried the Jigarthanda, a popular South Indian dessert. It was a refreshing and creamy concoction of milk, ice cream, and almond jelly, topped with a generous drizzle of caramel. It was the perfect ending to my meal, and I thoroughly enjoyed every spoonful.

Service: The service at Hotel Kannappa was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They patiently explained the different dishes and their flavors, and ensured that my dining experience was smooth and enjoyable.

Overall Experience: My dining experience at Hotel Kannappa was delightful. The food was authentic, flavorful, and cooked to perfection, and the service was exceptional. The ambience was welcoming, and the restaurant had a distinct South Indian charm. I left the restaurant with a satisfied palate and a memorable experience.

If you're in Trichy and craving authentic Chettinad cuisine, I highly recommend visiting Hotel Kannappa. It's a must-visit destination for foodies looking to explore the rich culinary heritage of...

Disappointing Experience at Hotel Kannapa, Trichy

partial treatment based on customers' attire, vehicles, and overall appearance, which is highly concerning. It felt like there was a distinction being made between guests, which is unacceptable. Everyone pays the same price for their meal, and this kind of treatment is simply unprofessional and discriminatory.

I visited Hotel Kannapa for lunch recently, and unfortunately, my experience was far from pleasant. Before arriving, I called to confirm the lunch timings and availability, but the service upon arrival left much to be desired.

Firstly, I noticed what appeared to be partial treatment based on customers' attire, vehicles, and overall appearance, which is highly concerning. It felt like there was a distinction being made between guests, which is unacceptable. Everyone pays the same price for their meal, and this kind of treatment is simply unprofessional and discriminatory.

As for the food, I ordered butter naan, paneer butter masala, and fish fingers. The fish fingers were awful—overpriced, lacking actual fish pieces, and filled with masala instead. I did not expect such poor quality from a place that charges such high prices.

Additionally, the seating arrangement was also problematic. Despite there being plenty of space in the AC hall, we were not allowed to sit there. It seemed like a deliberate attempt to segregate guests. We were rushed to finish our meal quickly, which made the dining experience uncomfortable. At one point, the staff even took our water glasses while we were eating, which felt disrespectful.

When we asked for a parcel, we were treated poorly, which is baffling. It’s not unreasonable to ask for takeaway, but the way we were treated made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable.

I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. The service was discriminatory, the food quality was subpar, and overall, it was a very unpleasant experience. I plan to file a formal complaint with the food authority and consumer court.

Please reconsider if you’re thinking about...

WORST .!!

We (12 people) recently visited this restaurant (Sunday), and the experience left much to be desired.

Here's a detailed breakdown of our visit:

Service: The service was incredibly poor. From the moment we walked in, it was clear that the staff struggled to accommodate a group of our size. It seemed like they were overwhelmed and unprepared. Orders were taken haphazardly, and the wait times were excessively long. To add to the frustration, the staff showed no sense of urgency or professionalism. If there were an option to rate the service zero stars, I wouldn't hesitate to do so.

Group Management: This is not the first time we've faced issues with this restaurant's inability to handle a group of people. Large gatherings seem to be beyond their capacity, as they fail to coordinate and manage even basic requirements. Plates and cutlery were not provided promptly, and there was visible confusion among the staff.

Food Quality: The food was disappointing. Here's what we ordered and experienced:

Mutton Biryani. Chicken 65. Onion Chicken. Non-Veg Meals.

The overall quality was below average.

Overall Experience: This experience was disappointing on all fronts. Poor service, lackluster food, and the inability to handle groups make it clear that this restaurant is not a suitable choice for gatherings. We have given it multiple chances in the past, but the recurring issues have made it evident that improvement is unlikely.

We won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, especially if you're planning to dine with a group. There are far better options that offer good food and...

went for a quick lunch taking a detour on the way from madurai to chennai. i had to wait for 30 mins to get a table. the waiter didnt even brief us the menu and rushed out with only 3 dishes. moreover the courtesy of the staff goes through the window when handling crowds; as if we dine there for free.. not even water was supplied!! no tissue paper. no mouth fresheners given at the end. these are all basic things.. it took 20 more minutes for the waiter to inform us that the mutton biryani we ordered will be served hot in another 10 mins... making a hungry human to wait for more than an hour to taste the food?? finally it was a namesake mutton biryani with miniscule pieces in it. upon asking them about the quantity of the mutton pieces, the waiter counted the 0.5*0.5cm shreds as pieces and said 5 pieces are what we give in mutton biryani.(nice hotel). NO COVID PROTOCOL followed. all the waiters had masks over their chin only. another set of guests next to us complained about the air conditioner being not at all cool enough, for which the hotel mgmt replied "this is the max we can give in that part/corner of the hotel". The most worst hotel i have ever encountered. waste of time and money.

Relatively big hotel. Large space for parking. This is the most happening and famous hotel in that area and one should be patient to get a table. Not to worry, thanks to the good cuatomer service and big waiting hall with television and good couches. The ambiance is good. Food is very good. Vegetarian meals is surprisingly fairly priced, but non vegetarian is a bit highly priced. But no complaints about the food and service. Before entering the waiting hall, your name and number of family members will be noted by the staff and will be called to dine when your table is free and ready. Pleasent even after waiting. Stewards who take order and serve are very courteous and understanding. Happy to have come across a good steward named Mr. Meenakshi Sundaram who was very good in service. Appreciate his warm communication.

This restaurant is located on the Trichy-Chennai high road and it's very near to Trichy roundana. It was very crowded when I visited last time, but the wait time was manageable. I tasted only Mutton biryani and it was good.  A typical jeera samba rice biryani. I would like to highlight the item which I enjoyed the most is - Dalcha. Dalcha is very famous in and around Madurai-Dindigul area. It is made using Daal, Mutton bones and brinjal. Only very few hotels are preparing and providing to its customers for Biryani. If you are looking for the best Dalcha and definitely this is the must visit hotel in your list. Parking is a little bit of a challenge during peak hours and weekends it seems. Parking - Ok Waiting time - Ok Food taste - Good Dalcha - Fantastic Service - Neutral Rest room - Good
