Our visit to Charcoal was unfortunately one of the worst dining experiences I've had in recent memory. From the moment we arrived, there were clear signs that this establishment lacked both quality service and honest practices.Firstly, the quality of the food was simply pathetic. The dishes lacked flavor and freshness, making it clear that little care had gone into their preparation. It was disappointing to pay a premium for such subpar cuisine.Secondly, upon receiving the bill, we were shocked to find extra charges that were not explained or justified. It is essential for customers to carefully check their bills here, as it seems the restaurant manipulates the amount without transparency.Despite having made a reservation well in advance, we were neglected throughout our meal. The staff seemed indifferent and uninterested in providing even basic service. When we requested a box to pack our leftovers and asked for change, the response was dismissive and rude. They outright refused, claiming it wasn't their concern.Overall, the behavior of the staff was unprofessional and unwelcoming. Their lack of empathy towards our requests and concerns was evident throughout the evening. In conclusion, I would strongly advise against dining at Charcoal .The combination of poor food quality, unjustified charges, and disrespectful service made this visit a regrettable experience. There are far better dining options in Varanasi that value their customers and uphold higher standards of service...
Read moreWe ordered starters which arrived quickly. Once we ate our starters, they took our menus away. We waited approximately 30 minutes to order the mains until we had to call a member of staff over. I pointed to the menu what I wanted to the waiter. Waited about 45 minutes for the mains to come, they got my boyfriend’s order correct but brought me chicken curry instead of mutton curry. They offered to change it for me but I refused as I had already been waiting for too long. They brought the rice over late when we had half of the curries and bread eaten. We arrived to the restaurant at about 8:30pm and our mains arrived at 10pm. I was feeling very cold as I waited for our food, as we were sitting beside the door. A table of 4 arrived beside us arrived after us, they had eaten and left before we even got our mains. My boyfriend enjoyed the mutton curry. The chicken curry was not great, I packed most of it in a box and fed it to a stray dog outside. Later on in the night we both had upset stomachs after the food we ate. Staff were nice but the quality of service was very poor. There were 2 other parties happening while we were there, it seemed like they focused on other customers more than us. A staff member followed me out the door asking me to leave a review, it was a bit intimidating. Would...
Read moreI recently visited Charcoal Fine Dining during my vacation in India, and it was a meal to remember! As someone visiting from Canada, I was excited to try authentic Indian cuisine, and Charcoal Fine Dining exceeded my expectations. To start, I ordered the meat platter as an appetizer. It was a fantastic selection—each piece was perfectly grilled, juicy, and packed with flavor. The variety of meats, paired with delicious house-made chutneys, made for a great introduction to the meal. For my main course, I couldn’t resist the classic butter chicken. It was rich, creamy, and had just the right amount of spice. The chicken was incredibly tender, and the sauce was so good I found myself mopping up every last bit with the fresh naan. The atmosphere at Charcoal Fine Dining is warm and welcoming, and the staff were attentive and eager to make recommendations. I truly felt taken care of throughout my visit. If you’re looking for an authentic and memorable Indian dining experience, I highly recommend Charcoal Fine Dining. The flavors, service, and ambiance all come together for a...
