Food - 5, very budget friendly and therefore overcrowded during breakfast time. Service - 5, but tell everything clearly and specifically because it's overcrowded after 7:30AM so try to understand their situation also. Atmosphere - 4, because less places to sit and it's very crowded so atmosphere is a bit stuffy and suffocating. Hope the management adds more tables to sit in the morning.
I was on a visit to my home state of Uttar Pradesh. Even though I belong to Mathura, we had visited kashi to take blessings from Kashi Vishwanath and Bhairavji, we left early morning and on the way back to Cantt, found this place which is infamous for it's authentic traditional UP breakfast. Even though they don't have all items but whatever they cook and serve well. It was delicious.
I am assuming some people have written Puri Kachori in their comments as they don't belong to UP and henceforth don't know our cuisine.
The correct name is Bedai Kachori and subzi/kala chana. Bedai Kachori is either stuffed with urad dal or moong dal or other lentils but mostly we eat with urad dal. I had visited UP after a decade and boy, was I waiting for the bedais! One Gujarati item dhokhla, was simple, mildly spiced and spongy. Loved it.
Bedai Kachori and Kala chana (my childhood fav), samosa, Khasta Kachori, jalebi, dahi blah blah blah are our traditional breakfast items and I loved how they made it so delicious. We were here by 7AM but the crowd increased after 7:30AM. Joggers, hungry pilgrims like me, oldies, students, shopowners etc all come to eat at this place.
I wondered if I could find the taste of Mathura style Bedai kachori (stop calling it Puri-Kachori y'all), I did find at this place. This is budget friendly and you will like it, they don't normally put onions and garlics because then it wouldn't be original. I have left UP and gone back home but wish this was near my home. I don't consider UP good for women/just sensible people in general but it's my homestate and I miss our food. It made me remember all my childhood foodie foodie memories :)
Delicious hot food. I had 4 plates of it. I ate other items as well and my tummy puffed up...

Read moreOne of the worst Kachaudi-Sabji's I have ever had in Varanasi (for those who don't know, Kachaudi-Sabji is one of the most famous traditional breakfast dishes of Varanasi).
Following is a brief insight for the same:
The Sabji (Vegetable Curry) they prepare is almost bland and tasteless. It is filled with potatoes, and there is a very little usage of other vegetables and tastemakers to provide the authentic taste of Varanasi's most traditional breakfast. I would give that a rating of 0/5.
The kachaudi (Poori) though, is not very bad, but I have had a lot better version of the same at other shops, so I would give a rating of 2/5 for that.
3)The price of Kachaudi (Served with Sabji) is Rs.20/ Pc. which is as much as 5 times overpriced compared to the market rates, which is usually just Rs.4/Pc.
They also have a very poor management, and the staffs are also not trained properly.
Overall, I would not recommend one to have Kachaudi-Sabji at this place.
(I gave it a 2/5 rating since the Jalebi is not so bad)
Hope you find this review helpful.
