Food is the only thing that can make or break a day for a traveller. But this place just made my dining experience one of the best in recent times. Missed eating over here on Sunday as it was closed but yesterday we got the opportunity to dine in again for lunch.
Nothing bad to write about this place to be frank. The doors were huge and we were welcomed into it with a bright smile. Got settled for a nice thali experience.
All the vibes in this place will make you think of royalty. Everything that was served was in a very orderly manner with utmost love. Quantity wise they are good as well as quality wise too.
The chandan sharbat was light and kinda set the mood for the lunch experience. He dhokla was good and tasted more heavenly with the sweet chutney. For the first time I loved the lemon pickle.. The carrot was too good with right mix of spices. The coconut chutney was minty enough to eat. The aloo cutlet was supers soft with right consistency and crispy enough where I had to ask for a second serving.
The kheer wasn't too sweet but yet it was sweet enough that complimented the thali perfectly. The dal was superb with the lentils cooked properly. The kadhi was good with pakoras. My favourite all of it was the rajma curry, aloo fry and the sweet tangy raita.
The chaat is again a highlight for this thali which wasn't too heavy. The pooria were light and fluffy and they were served hot to make the experience more pleasant. The tawa rotis with ghee and til ladoo was top notch.
Finally the boondi laddoo was rich enough to finish the thali and finally the chaas made us to digest all the awesomeness...
Read moreWe were traveling enroute from Ayodhya to Benaras and stopped at this restaurant as it was rated very high. We had a group of 11 persons composed of elders, youngsters and adults and one person fasting (Navratri). We presumed that food will be excellent given the ratings but to be honest we were pretty disappointed. The taste of food was quite average ( or below average) except of Paneer . Dal, Kaddu, Kadi etc were nowhere near how even a normal restaurant tastes. Some of the veges were so tasteless that we wasted the food, which we felt truly guilty about but it was really bad in taste. The style and service was ok. If you have been to a similar restaurant in India and abroad, you would definitely not rate it anywhere near 4. They served with a smile but were more like trained than doing things from their heart. With regards to the Navratra thali, it was completely tasteless, rip-off in price and didn't even have curd or kheer. I asked for another Puri and he went to his manager and came back to tell that I will have to pay additional money(🤑 ). They serve two puri's and more than that you need to pay😲. Where is unlimited quantity when you charge both normal and vrat at the same price and even tell customers as soon as you arrive. We come via the raod and probably our vehicle driver brought and we noted others were also travellers and probably their drivers brought them there as they get free meal or something. It's a rip-off at the price, quality and service . Would not...
Read moreThis restaurant is just a few kilometres away from my in laws house in Varanasi. It has opened up pretty new in the market. They provide variety of dishes, but their thalis are my favourite.
I ordered the veg thali (unlimited). The Veg thali included Dal Fry, 4 rotis , Dal makhani, Rotis, Mix Veg, Rice, chanach, Chandan Sharbat, kheer, Coconut Laddu, Chaat and many more
The Dal fry and mix veg was extremely delicious, the kheer was on the sweeter part but the quantity was really less. Veg thali was for 1000 rupees which I feel was a bit too pricy should be reduced by Rs 200 at least. Ambience was exceptionally beautiful and very soothing to the eyes.
It was very special for me as I went along with my better half rather I must say with my best half as she is every thing to me means everything she felt very much happy and satisfied and I was really amazed as she too loves food but not so easily gets convinced but here she too was flabbergasted was overwhelmed with the service of the staff and with the quality of the food. So no doubt Shri Shivay thaali deserves a 5 star. From every aspect.
For daily demands of your hunger, this place is nice, budget- friendly(Unlimited thaali) for four and have their own delivery facility.
