Sosoru, Rajpur Road Located on Rajpur Road, Sosoru brings a refreshing slice of Korean, Chinese, Japanese dining to Dehradun, pairing modern design with authentic flavours. The first thing that catches your attention is the beautiful wooden structure — warm, spacious, and thoughtfully crafted with uniquely designed seating. It’s a place that feels both stylish and comforting, perfect for an unhurried meal. Guests are welcomed with barley tea, a soothing, earthy beverage that sets the tone for what’s to come. This is followed by edamame, a gesture that instantly adds warmth to the experience. Served steamed and lightly salted, these tender immature soybeans can be taken once and as much as you like — a lovely touch of generosity rarely seen elsewhere. The menu is interesting and varied, offering a balance of familiar and authentic Korean flavours. The Korean pancake (Jeon) was crisp on the edges and full of character, while the Kimchi Jjigae, a spicy, tangy stew made with fermented kimchi and tofu - rich, hearty, and full of flavour. Among the small plates, the truffle mushroom dim sums deserve a special mention — beautifully orange in colour, aromatic, and perfectly seasoned. The bao, however, was less impressive. The spinach and corn-cheese filling lacked the punch of other dishes, leaving it a bit underwhelming. On the dessert side, the mochi ice cream didn’t quite live up to expectations — fine for a one-time try, but not worth the price. The chocolate walnut brownie with ice cream was decent but nothing to write home about. Service, however, was a highlight. Worchui from Manipur, our server, was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and remarkably polite. His hospitality added a personal warmth that truly elevated the...
Read moreSo so ru was and is known as a new Japanese restaurant in the town. It was only when I saw the menu that i realised that the place serves Korean and Japanese cuisine. The interior is beautiful, it resembles any high end Pan Asian restaurant and the ample space here makes it all the more attractive. The place has three different types of seating arrangements- Korean on the right, Japanese on the left (both of these require you to be seated on the floor to relish the meals) and the middle section has tables and chairs. The food is flavourful and none of the flavours in the dishes is overpowering. Beverage- Peach iced tea, chocolate Boba tea The peach iced tea was refreshing and didn't taste too sweet or artificial. The chocolate bubble tea was like a normal chocolate shake with Boba at the bottom. The chocolate shake wasnt too sweet and I liked it. Food- we ordered Chicken Gyoza, Tofu Bento box, Crispy lobster and couldn't step out without eating mochi. The chicken gyoza was delectable. The first time around the Gyoza crust was crispy but with consequent serving, the crunch was missing. The Bento box with tofu was okay. The gravy of the tofu was simple. The wanton served in the same box was quite crunchy. The Lobster too was great. It was flavourful. There were 5 pieces of Chicken Gyoza. The mochi icecream was also a light and refreshing end to the delicious lunch. The Vegetable Dragon roll was also decent in flavour. The staff is hospitable and willing to make your visit to the restaurant pleasurable. You'll be greeted with the sweetest smile upon entering the place and throughout the staff...
