Before going to the restaurant I had heard only good things about it. I went to Bawarchi on a Sunday afternoon and to little wonder the place was packed. It has an air conditioned sitting section as well as a non AC shacky sitting area. Both are comfortable if it isn't 38 degrees outside, in that case you would need the air-conditioned seating. We ordered Hyderabadi mutton Biryani, cucumber raita to go with it (the biryani does come with complementary plain raita and gravy), chicken tikka, and a cold coffee. Their biryani especially, was much raved about so my expectations had gone sky high. To my disappointment the biryani was just a blander version of fried rice. Come on, who loads up biryani with cabbage, for chrissake? I mean ofcourse unless I asked for cabbage biryani or something. The chicken tikka was extremely salty but since I had gone there with a friend who's a regular there, they were polite enough to cancel the tikka order altogether. Cold coffee, too sweet. But by now I had started believing that they were just having a bad day. Eh. Have no complaints with the raita, it was decent much. I'd like to go again!
