We ordered from Ek Satoli for our first marriage anniversary. The day prior we got in touch with Kiran, the chef/founder, and ordered the Chocolate Cake, Millionaire's Shortbread, Badeel (Kumaoni savoury lentil cakes) and Tomato Basil & Cheese Sandwich. Kiran had already left when we dropped in the next day to collect our order.
Coming to the food, each item was delicious and very well made, with quality ingredients. The Chocolate Cake was soft, chocolatey and not too sweet (Kiran was kind enough to accommodate our request for less sugar). The Millionaire's Shortbread tasted great, with the caramel and dark chocolate in perfect contrast to the buttery shortbread. It had a thinner caramel layer than usual, which we actually preferred. It was our first time hearing of or tasting Badeel and this slightly crunchy, soft and spicy lentil 'kebab' won our hearts. The flavourful green chutney was the perfect accompaniment to it.
We had received the Badeel and Sandwiches in Tupperware boxes (not in delivery containers), which they said would be collected later on. Instead, we visited the cafe to drop them. Kiran spotted us while we were still a few steps away, and welcomed us enthusiastically.
While she trained her staff to make pizzas and cappuccino (which we luckily got to taste and loved!) we talked about baking and life in the mountains. She was sweet and full of life, and her passion for her work was evident. It didn't feel like we were meeting for the first time. Thank you Kiran for such an unexpectedly amazing experience high up...
Read moreA visit to Ek Satoli Café is an experience for the soul. Tucked away in the serene beauty of the hills, this little gem is undoubtedly one of the best bakeries in the region.
The chocolate almond meal cake was out of this world — rich, wholesome, and comforting — easily the finest I’ve tasted around here. Their coffee, brewed with care, made the perfect companion on a cool mountain evening.
But what truly makes this place special are the beautiful souls behind it. Kiran and the team are warm, kind, and full of heart — you can feel their love and sincerity in every little detail, from the food to the atmosphere.
A space filled with warmth, deliciousness, and genuine human connection. Highly recommended to anyone visiting this part of the world. Can’t wait to...
Read moreAfter a moderate trek up the hills (2kms approximately) we arrived at Ek Satoli, hot under the collar and hunger in the belly. And true to the reviews and recommendations from locals the food was finger licking good - spaghetti with mushroom and truffle oil, pork-ramen in gochujang sauce with extra chilli oil on the side and vada-pav. Talk about international cuisine! Everything was delicious. Lovingly prepared by Kiran, a larger than life personality and vivacious owner, host and chef we could not have asked for anything more. We were so engrossed in eating and immersed in the conversation that we didn’t take in the views -oops! But, seriously, do visit. You will enjoy...
