It is a no-nonsense pocket-friendly café, and the outcomes reflect the pricing.
The momos are excellent - especially mutton momos. Larder drips through them and in fact freezes on the table during cold weather. Glazed Chicken wings are a good option as well. However, the health quotient of this restaurant is in the doldrums and save this place for cheat meals on a rainy day (literally and figuratively).
The place also doubles up as an unofficial BYOB with the option of outdoor seating around a hammock, an outdoor fireplace (rudimentary with fireplace marked by a clutch of stones) upon request or two shack like enclosures for better privacy.
I won't be reviewing the cutlery as at this price point it is moot to discuss it. The service is prompt and the washroom can be considered reasonably clean, although ladies should consider using something like a peesafe before relieving themselves.
If you are a stickler for fresh food and cheat meals that get as close to a proper meal as possible, do not consider ordering anything other than the (mutton) momos, chicken wings and place a request for simple vegetable salad. The momos are their USP and everything else can be disappointing.
So called chicken salad was tossed in Dr Oetkar's either thousand island dressing or sandwich spread - both of which are pathetic choices; the excessive use of dressing made matters worse. You could consider getting a Maggi if you are okay with eating instant noodles. Thukpa is available only as the dry variant and the chicken sausages are quite obviously ready-to-cook frozen variety tossed in refined oil.
When it comes to beverages, i prefer to not look beyond a salted lime soda but that's quite subjective on your proclivity for sugar.
On the whole, i would say 3/5, + 0.5 for the best momos in town and +0.5 for doubling up as a...
