Situated within the famous Shonajhuri Haat of Shantiniketan, this place is a gem. The location is quite accessible, however there is a bit of rush and waiting during the peak hours of the afternoon. Coming to the food, it was finger licking good. We ordered veg thali, kochi pathar jhol, morala mach and katla macher jhol. The taste of each and every item was too good. The veg thali consisted of bhaat, daal, posto, sukto, saak, begun bhaja, salad, aamer chatni, papad and payesh. The quantity was quite good and they offered each items unlimited times. Before starting the food, they gave two spoons of huge dollops of ghee which enriched the taste. The kochi pathar jhol had 4 big chunks of meat well cooked and flavoursome, while the fishes were also cooked to perfection and was tasteful. Coming to the service it was very prompt. The staffs were well behaved, ever smiling and serving with patience and care. The pocket punch is also not too high and is quite affordable. The ambience is quite good, clean and hygienic following the shantiniketan style decoration throughout. They also have both ac and non ac places to sit and dine. Tge entrance and the resort cum restaurant is well decorated from outside and being just in the midst of the hustle bustle of the haat, it is a crowd puller and attracts tourists easily for their pocket friendly meals and tasty food. A little drawback, there is no network inside and you need to carry cash for payment which would be easier.

Ram Shyam Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience that combines great ambiance, attentive service, and delicious food. Located in a convenient and accessible area, the restaurant has garnered a positive reputation among locals and visitors alike. Here's a comprehensive review of Ram Shyam Restaurant: Ambiance: The restaurant boasts a warm and inviting atmosphere with tastefully decorated interiors. The seating arrangement is comfortable. Service: The staff at Ram Shyam Restaurant is known for their friendly and attentive service. From the moment you enter, you are greeted with a warm welcome and seated promptly. Cuisine: The restaurant specializes in offering a diverse range of delectable bengali dishes mainly. Veg thali costs Rs.170 and non veg items were extra add-on at different costs. The taste of food was mouthwatering, every item was perfect starting from ghee (smells really good) to payesh. The rice and sabjis were unlimited. Overall Experience: Ram Shyam Restaurant excels in providing a memorable dining experience and value for money. Wait time:- you have to wait for sometime. We waited for half an hour on saturday.

During our brief visit to Shantiniketan, we savored a delightful late lunch at Ram Shyam Restaurant, nestled within the scenic Sona Jhuri. This eatery is renowned for its popularity among locals and visitors alike. Opting for the Veg Thalis and Mutton Dakbunglow, we were pleasantly surprised by the exquisite flavors of each dish within the thali. The Mutton Dakbunglow was particularly tantalizing and highly recommended. What's noteworthy is their flexibility in portion sizes—customers can request as much quantity as desired for the items in the thali. Despite the quality and taste, the prices remained incredibly reasonable, adding to the appeal of this dining experience. In summary, our time at Ram Shyam Restaurant was truly exceptional. For anyone exploring Shantiniketan, this spot is a definite must-visit to relish fantastic food and an overall memorable experience.

You have all the reasons to visit Shantiniketan and get lost in it's literary excellence, scenic beauty and cultural vibes. In recent years, travellers also cherish this place for it's beautiful Sonajhuri Haat selling clothes, jewellery and other artefacts. But it has an underrated side of serving delectable bengali thalis in every other restaurant or hensel ghar. We picked Ram Shyam for it's proximity to the surroundings of Sal Bon and Sonjhuri Haat. Let's decode the Bengali Thali here that serves you ghee bhat, shukto, sak bhaja, dal, begun bhaja, alu posto, chatni, papad, salad and payesh. You can always order the non-veg accompaniment with the thali. We selected chicken kosha which tasted good. I particulary detested the "aloo posto" for it's runny gravy with less of posto and more of a bland taste. Otherwise, other items won't disappoint you.

🔴Many things can be said about this restaurant... As it is situated in the prime position of the famous "Sonajhuri Hut" or "Khoai's Hut".. and as there is very less places where you can dine out.. 🔴This place is hugely congested in weekends.. specially Saturday.. when people come to stay here for 2 days.. and enjoy the soarround are.. 🔴This resturent can be compared with the pice hotels for the kolkata..but with some tricky gesture 🔴Food is average in normal weekends.. ❌Rice was cold and hard.. ❌Sukto was without salt.. ❌Chicken gravy was too oily.. and cold from the inside.. and hard to chew.. ❌dal was blunt.. ❌They insist not to repeat any items..but be sure.. dal and veggies item must be repeated. 🟣I had a bad experience hope u don't.. u can enjoy that still.. cause.. everyone has a different pallate... 🍚

Beautiful experience. The thalis were just too good! We, a family of 7 visited Shantiniketan around mid March. We stayed near Sonajhuri haat, stopped by this place for lunch on a Sunday. This place so crowded, we had to stand in a long queue, bought our coupons, waited again in line to to get inside the restaurant for our table - the whole process took about 45-50 mins. So if you are coning in peak season, do expect to wait for your turn. We got veg thalis, along with mutton curry (kochi pathar jhol), pabda and pomfret. Everything was great! The pabda was a bit too fried, tasted a bit overcooked and not fresh, but the curry was good. The vibe of this place was perfect as well. Service was good overall. The bathrooms were clean. Highly recommend this place if you are around town.
