Spices Restaurant, Bidhannagar – A Hidden Gem for Chicken Lovers and Comfort Food Seekers.

Tucked away in the heart of Bidhannagar, Spices Restaurant is one of those underrated spots that quietly wins your heart—and your appetite—with its rich flavours, warm service, and comforting atmosphere. As someone who enjoys a mix of North Indian classics and Kolkata-style twists, my visit here was nothing short of delightful.

Let’s begin with the Chicken Pakoda – easily one of the best I’ve had in the area. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and marinated with a perfect blend of spices that make every bite a burst of flavour. It’s the ideal starter – light enough to keep you hungry for more, but so addictive you’ll want to order another plate before the mains arrive.

Speaking of mains, the Garlic Naan here deserves a special mention. Soft, buttery, and generously laced with fresh garlic, it’s the perfect companion to the rich gravies served. I paired it with their Kashmiri Alur Dom, and the combination was heavenly. The alur dom had that signature Kashmiri sweetness with a hint of warmth from the spices – a beautiful contrast that felt both comforting and exotic.

But if you're a non-veg enthusiast, Spices is truly a haven. Their range of chicken delicacies – from creamy Butter Chicken to spicy Chicken Do Pyaza and aromatic Chicken Bharta – are all well-executed, with generous portions and bold, well-rounded flavours. Each dish feels thoughtfully prepared, with distinct tastes that don’t blur together, which is rare in many multi-cuisine spots.

The ambience is pleasant and family-friendly, with soft lighting, clean tables, and a calm vibe – ideal for both quiet dinners and small gatherings. The service is attentive, and the staff are quick to recommend dishes if you’re unsure.

Final verdict: If you’re around Bidhannagar and craving hearty, flavour-packed Indian food, Spices Restaurant is a must-visit. From crispy chicken starters to rich gravies and soft naans, everything is satisfying and made with care. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates good food without...

• Hygiene is a big concern at Spices Restaurant. During our visit, we saw staff cleaning glasses with the same cloth used for shoes. When we pointed it out, they denied it and walked away, which was really disappointing and unprofessional.

• Portion sizes were quite small compared to the price. Other restaurants in the area offer more food for the same price, which felt like poor value for money.

• No printed bill was provided. They told us the computer wasn’t working, which was inconvenient since I needed the bill for office reimbursement. For a business, this should be better managed.

• On the positive side, the food was tasty, and they did accommodate our group of 9 by arranging tables for us.

Overall, while the food is good, the hygiene issues and lack of professionalism mean I won’t...

The food is good. Friendly staff served the food without service charges. We ordered Chicken Pahari & Fish finger as starter and Lassi as a drink. Paneer Kulcha, Tawa Butter Roti, Chicken Reshmi Butter Masala and Fish Labbabder in the main course were very tasty. They have Day's special dessert "Tuti-fruti icecream" which was awesome with a pocket friendly price @139. It is a must try. We have spent Rs. 690/person for a heavy dinner. They should use light music and dim lights (rather using bright light) inside the restaurant to make the ambiance muche romantic. Overall satisfied. I believe this restaurant is under rated compared to other restaurants in this locality.
