Rumah Makan Seafood Apong Ambon — Restaurant in Ambon

We dine at this restaurant on Sunday evening. According to our guide, this is one of those restaurant that is fantastic for large groups gathering. As we enter, we have to choose the "catch of the day" we didn't choose the mud crab, but we choose the puffer fish. We ordered 7-8 dishes to share between 5 of us. The highlight of the dinner has to be the deep fried puffer fish. Very crunchy, light texture and very fresh. It's definitely a positive surprise. The staff can speak decent English, which is great for tourists like ourselves. The restaurant is very clean and the atmosphere is fantastic. I've come here twice. The first one isn't too impressive, because the food feels ordinary, not too special. Maybe because I came to the official dinner where the food was ordered too long before the event, so it was less fresh. But for the second time, I think the taste is different. the seafood is quite fresh and especially the stir-fried water-spinach (cah kangkung), is yummy. This is a stir-fried water-spinach completed with extra squid, fish-ball and quail eggs. Very tasty. If you don't mind the high price, then you'll get a pretty delicious dishes here. This establishment is placed well, the Ambon Bay view from here is good. But I guess if you really want to be more focused to the food, this one is not a best option. The service is just at standard and the taste is just so-so. Not bad, but I can say I've tasted a better one in other restaurant. For such a quality, it's not really a suitable place if you're looking for a good "value for price" place. 4 stars for the view. 3 stars for the food...
