After a wonderful experience here a month ago at Akasha, which is the most beautiful bamboo hotel and restaurant near Keliki village, I decided to book a room for my sister’s birthday, intending to give her a memorable overnight stay and dinner, only to find the traditional menu had completely changed, featuring burgers, pasta and pizza rather than the delicious Balinese fare on the original menu. The Nasi Campur was bland and tasteless, Satay had been removed from the menu, along with many other vegan dishes. Prices had also been increased by a large percentage since my last meal here a month ago. Herbal tea was only served by small cup, no teapots available, no Bintang beer served. I could go on … but to give them their due the chef made us a special dish of satay for lunch.
We ended up taking a car to the local Tegallaleng night food market for supper
The inhouse guest breakfast menu was lacking in variety and choice vs the restaurant breakfast menu and we had to preorder breakfast the night before to have on our room balcony
On top of that we had no water in our room for washing or showering, the shower was dirty and I had to ask reception to send someone to clean it up. The staff were charming and did their best to fix the various issues but there was no management in evidence.
I have been promised a refund on AirB&B so we will see if that transpires and whether I get any response from the ghost management!.
UPDATE. I received a refund from Akasha- thank you - and the explanation that the lack of water was due to the supply not being switched on again after...
Read moreReally nice bamboo design. Nice menu. Went for the sunset but was very unimpressed as I've seen much better closer to the Campuhan Trail head (not too far away). Good experience until I was chased out by 2 servers accusing me of not paying my bill. I paid in cash and therefore had essentially no way to prove it. Luckily the woman who actually took my money happened to walk by, as I'm sitting on my scooter ready to leave and being told I can't, and confirmed that I had, in fact, paid. Otherwise I'm not sure what the outcome would have been bc 1. I was not about to pay again and 2. I didn't have enough cash to re-pay even if I'd wanted to. For reference, I ordered a glass of wine and asked for the bill at the same time. I paid, was brought my change, and continued drinking my wine for at least an additional half hour before leaving (as is my norm). Not sure why it wasn't clear that I'd already paid but I've never experienced this anywhere else in Bali. Safe to say I didn't appreciate the confusion. Food was average.
Additionally, there is no public access/day pass for the pool available for non-guests...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stayed at the New Earth Haven Domes last winter (sorry for the late review). When we arrived, I unfortunately got incredibly sick. The owners took it upon themselves to personally drive me, in the flooding rain, to a clinic so I could see a doctor. They waited and drove me all the way back, gave me juice and tips on how to get better. This place was incredibly healing. The vegan food was the BEST I have ever eaten, and could get delivered right to the room, or, was just a small walk away to eat in a comfy setting with a spectacular view of the rice fields. The outdoor bungalow we stayed it was quiet, away from everything, beautiful, and just all around perfect. You are close enough to Ubud where it is a cheap ride away, or an easy moped ride for a couple beginner drivers like ourselves. It’s not fun being sick in a foreign country, but this place made me feel like I was at home (more so, at a place that was way better than home) and I can not thank them enough. To this day, we talk about going back. I highly recommend staying at this special, magical, healing, unforgettable oasis....
