ETNICA Coffee & Kitchen — Restaurant in Balikpapan

After first flight to Balikpapan and a very long and tiring day meeting, all the 14 of us wanted were a cozy night with good coffee and food to end our tiring night. This coffee shop was recommended to us for their good coffee and good service.

I can’t say how their coffee taste like because we did not have the chance to. But man, one thing I know for sure is they have a very sharp tounge lady server (that might be related to the owner or very dislike tourists looking for her attitude towards us last night).

We tried to move one table next to us closer so the 14 of us can sit together. She scolded us as it will be bothersome for her to move it back. We came in at around 9.15 PM and reminded us that the last food order is at 9.30 and the only drinks available was coffee and tea. She kept misheard avocado coffee with avocado juice with the attitude I’ve told you already. It ended up avocado coffee was also not available After a very painful order service, she came inside a while and then came out and told us they cannot placed our order in because it was already 9.35 pm. We were begging several times if they can help to put it in as it only past 5 minutes. And she only said with her “professional” attitude that they are very professional to stick to their last order time. We ended up left the coffee shop mostly from her service that keep belittling us and their so called professional service. I told them (her and the barista) our dissapointment that we were very hungry that they might have helped us putting the food order first and come back for the rest of the order. She talked back that she already told us it was closed at 9.30 PM. I regret wasting my time to even bother and that’s when I thought she might be the owner or related to the owner.

If this is your first time to Balikpapan and looking for a cozy night with coffee, please find another coffee shop that treat you like human. Otherwise it will impact your view and experience towards...

Located inside Pasar Segar it has sufficient parking lot. Cozy place to hangout or work with your laptop open but can not chat loudly for the narrow space between tables. Beef wrap is OK (and big), smoothies bowl is good (taste and sight) , red juice is fresh, avo juice is OK. Overall, the food and bev here never disappoint me. There is electric piano for anyone to play. Toilet is clean and the staffs are friendly too :). I'll be back for...

Do I have a complaint? Let's see... Plating was pleasing to the eyes, coffee was nice, meals were nice, juice was nice, staff was helpful and kind, dessert was nice, fries was nice, price was okay, ... so no. No complaint!
