To sum up: this shop became one of my favorite coffee shops in Bandung, just after my first visit. Personal highlights: Decaf (Colombia) coffee, and Brulee ubi madu.
First of all; thank you, Riza, for the hospitality, and excellent service. Location was pretty easy to find, on the main Jalan Buah Batu, even though storefront and signage were slightly inconspicuous. The interior (non-smoking/bar area) was modern, clean, and minimalist. Intimate setting at the bar area also allows interaction between baristas and patrons. Atmosphere was very comfortable with plenty of sunlight, and background music which was not too loud. Coffee equipments were obviously superior.
Menu was concise, with enough variety of food and beverage. Special attention has also been given to the types of sugar, and sugar content in the beverage - allowing patrons to choose wisely. It's nice to see local specialties, such as colenak and ulen oncom on the menu. Prices are fair. I tried the Loa Diamond, Decaf, Bright Future, and Brulee Ubi Madu. I thought the Decaf (I think this should be a permanent item on the menu) was very interesting in terms of flavour and texture - especially delicious paired with the distilled milk. While the Brulee Ubi was to die for - sweet, salty, caramelly, creamy, rich - perfect combo. Food & beverage presentation was excellent, as well.
Improvements: I think air circulation at the bar area can be improved. It would be nice to have the wooden serving trays touched up/restored a bit - they look worn out. (I might have missed this) But I did not find any wash basin at or near the toilet?. Furnitures and seating arrangement at the bar area can be improved, and the space feels a bit empty - maybe more artworks or plants?
Overall, I had a great experience, and would highly recommend this proper coffee shop to any coffee enthusiasts, or any casual coffee drinkers who is looking to explore further. Keep up...
Read moreThe place is nice, minimalist,no smoking, old house style, those are things made me fall in love but the service was highly disappointing. At first I wanted to order steam rice...the crew made me come back and forth just to check if it is on the menu or not.The Nasi Goreng Endang I was about to order also sold out, didn't understand why it was sold out while I came early in the day.So I ordered Crispy Mushroom which I waited almost 30 minutes. When I tried to follow up the order they said ' a moment please' until one time they finally said it wasn't available. What a work! They should have told me earlier if they didn't have it so I could have changed other things. When I wanted to cancel they said it couldn't be done since it was in to the system. They defended themselves by saying just had the confirmation from the kitchen. Finally they gave me the money back.So it could have been done right? So funny, well for me the name 'work' doesn't go for this place.I hope the owner improve their crew attitude...

Work Unusual is not just another café — it’s a full-on matcha experience. The moment you walk in, the vibes are chill yet creative, and the focus on matcha is super clear. If you’re a matcha lover (or even just curious), this is definitely the place to be.
What really stood out to me was how knowledgeable and passionate the baristas are. They didn’t just serve drinks — they took the time to explain the origins, types, and brewing process of the matcha we ordered. It was like a mini masterclass, and we loved every bit of it! 🍵💚
The drinks? Amazing. Bold matcha flavor, well-balanced, and crafted with precision. You can really taste the quality. Plus, the presentation is top-tier!
Whether you’re in it for the aesthetic, the education, or just a great matcha fix, Work Unusual is such a cool spot. Can’t wait to go back and...
