We stayed in KTM Resort for 3 nights as part of a birthday weekend. Pros - -Very close to the Sekupang Ferry Terminal and the hotel arranged for a pickup and drop back from the terminal. Just inform them of the times beforehand.
-The staff is super-friendly and polite - always responsive and helpful for our requests and queries.
-We had booked the Seaview room which are a row of houses on stilts. On a clear day, you can see Singapore from the balcony in the room.
-The room isn't very big, but is cosy. The bed was a bit soft for my liking. Aircon keeps it cool on warm days. Water pressure is good in the washrooms.
-The wifi is mediocre, but if you are here to detox digitally, that is a good thing.
-Breakfast is decent - there is a good spread. You have western options such as sausages, beans, breads, sandwiches and eggs your style. There were Indonesian items too on all days - Capcay, Soto Ayam, Congee etc. Selection of juices, fruits, salads and coffee/tea.
-There is a restaurant in the property called Layang (same as the breakfast place), which we felt was just ok and a bit overpriced. -There is a bar too called Ombak Bar, which is nice and plays good music. Open till about 11PM, and serves a selection of cocktails and beers. The calamari and the aglio olio chilli was good.
-The resort offers some water activities like jetskiing, banana boats etc. There's a nice huge jetty where some locals do fishing and is a good view to catch the sunset.
Cons - The curtains are too thin and the balcony light is switched on through the night. Also, gets bright quite early. Light sleepers will find this a problem. Get an eyepatch.
-Since the structure is wooden, the walls are thin and if you have noise neighbours, they will keep you up.
-Only 2 500mn water bottles provided per day. When we asked for extra, we were told that we will need to buy it from the restaurant and it was more expensive than the regular price.
-Since the rooms are situated at an elevation, be prepared to walk up and down the steps (some good excercise). The buggy only drops you till a particular point.
-Not much to do around and you need to book a Grab/Gojek to get to the town or even...
Read moreWe stayed with KTM Resort for one night over a long weekend, and the people at this resort made our stay one of the most relaxing and stress-free we've ever had.
The staff went above and beyond for us, were quick in their service and knowledgable. We were able to take the free shuttle from the Ferry Terminal to the Resort, and they checked us in to our room despite arriving much earlier than the stated check-in time of 3pm (we were willing to wait until 3, but it was nice that they were able to help us). The Resort itself is spacious and quiet with a lovely atmosphere. There are some activities that are free of charge like pool access and snorkelling in their little bay, or you can pay an additional fee to experience more extreme activities like a jetski tour, flying fox or climbing wall. If you choose to venture out past the swimming pool, I would advise caution as some of the outer regions of the property have fallen into disrepair. Many of the places of interest are also only accessible by stairs (and a lot of them), so if stairs are something you have trouble navigating, contact the Resort before you book.
Our room was perfectly-sized for my husband and I, clean, comfortable and the ocean view from our balcony was incredible! The timber finishings are a nice touch and add to the tropical vibe. The wifi signal was strong almost everywhere on the property and the tv broadcasts the local television stations.
The in-house restaurant and bar are wonderful and the staff are always friendly and willing to help. We ate lunch under the shade of the shelter during the day, and then spent the night out near the water in their outdoor seating area. The staff played several movies during dinner (although they were thrillers, so I would have preferred perhaps some music instead. We also ordered a desert pizza from room-service. All their food is wonderful (my personal favorite was the Ayam Bakar) but be expected to pay resort price.
Thank you to everyone at KTM for making our stay wonderful. We will be back, and we will be...
Read moreHere’s the updated version including the feedback about the food:||“I would like to thank Mr. Randy for his assistance with our booking; however, our stay at KTM Resort Batam was overall disappointing, with several significant service issues.|| 1. Inconvenient Buggy Hours: The buggy service closes at 9:30 pm, which was extremely inconvenient as we were traveling with a baby and my 65-year-old mother. Extending the hours would make a huge difference for families who may need transportation after hours.| 2. Restrictive Towel Policy: Despite booking an extra bed for our group of 6 adults and 1 child, we were only given six towels. The restrictive towel policy made us feel uncomfortable, as if we might misuse them. Given the extra bed we paid for, this seemed unreasonable.| 3. Unreasonable Cleaning Charge: When my baby accidentally vomited a small amount of food on the bed, the hotel informed us there would be an extra charge for cleaning—without even attempting to wash it first. It was only food and unlikely to stain, and this added charge seemed unnecessary and unfair.| 4. Poor Water Heater Quality: The water heater barely worked, making showers uncomfortably cold. This basic service falling short was particularly disappointing.| 5. Unhelpful Staff: The staff was not as accommodating as we had hoped. Each request felt like an inconvenience to them, leaving us feeling unwelcomed.| 6. Limited Pool Amenities: At the pool, we weren’t allowed an extra ball for our group of seven, and, once again, only six towels were provided.| 7. Overpriced Food: We found the food prices to be unreasonably high, adding to the overall dissatisfaction with our stay.||We left feeling deeply let down and would not recommend KTM Resort Batam to family and friends. There is potential here, but it’s clear the service and hospitality need serious...
