Ombak Bar — Restaurant in Batam City

I had such a memorable visit before, but unfortunately not this time. I’ve always loved the beauty of the place, the ambience, and the food.

But the service that day was a bit frustrating. I chose to sit at the side sofa area since I brought my elderly parents. At the time (around 17:30 on July 9), there seemed to be a photoshoot session happening, so the table was unavailable. The only available sofa spot was this one.

The staff—one male server who took our order and a female server who gave us the menu—still told us to go ahead and order while waiting for the table to be free. They looked indifferent and clearly didn’t want to find a replacement table. So, we followed their instruction and placed our order. FYI, the minimum spend per person here is Rp150,000.

When the food arrived, the table was still being used. We had nowhere to place the food.

Luckily, the server who brought our meals was someone else—a slightly chubby guy dengan handuk leher warna biru—who took the initiative to find and bring us a new table from another area, with full effort. Even after we told him it was okay to wait, he still helped us out. Big thanks to you, Mas! We really appreciated your help—sorry we forgot your name!

Honestly, the service should’ve been more professional. Customers here are paying a premium—it’s not cheap at all. It’s basic, really: if you're using a table for a shoot, just prepare a backup for customers, or don’t use consumer space as a prop. I was bringing elderly guests, and the solution was so simple.

A bit of a turn-off seeing how some of the staff handled it. That said, the place is truly beautiful, and the food is delicious—though pricey. I’d say, might as well go to Marriott if it’s going to...

Great atmosphere and awesome scenery, great for viewing sunsets :) The food was mainly western and bar bites, went for mushroom pizza and the onion rings as per other google reviews and it was actually good! We got the mango Sangria for about 30sgd for 5 servings - this was quite bad though, didn't feel like there was much alcohol in it. Just go for a tower of beer for the same price 😅 Minus 1 star was that I made reservations on Chope for 430 on Saturday night and it seems that reservations did not matter since it was quite a full house around 435, staff did not bother checking their reservations list and let people sit based on first come first serve basis. Initally on my reservation I had requested for the front seaview seats but it was already all taken up when I reached there at 435 😢 so prepare to go early! Especially on Fri...

Contrary to the info on Google Maps - they close at 11pm and last order is at 10.30pm. It's likely due to the pandemic and their opening hours may resume to 12mn when the crowd comes back in!! Staff did not check for reservations as there weren't many people at 10pm.

Ombak Bar is my favorite bar in Batam❤️ I love the ambience, good music and sea breeze. Plus!!! You get to see Singapore's beautiful skyline from here 😍 Price is almost comparable to Singapore's bar but worth it imo.

Ombak is part of KTM Resort and I recommend staying here if you want to feel relaxed and not in the city. I will be back for sure...
