I visited Bebek Sinjay Madura with my family on Sunday, 22 December. I had heard so much about this restaurant before, especially that it serves bebek bumbu hitam, but it turns out that isn’t the case. Unfortunately, I didn’t get any pictures because it was incredibly crowded.
First of all, the restaurant is huge, with two floors and a large parking lot. They also have a toko oleh-oleh and a gorengan stall in front, which adds a nice touch. However, the queue for the cashier was insane. It might’ve been because it was peak holiday season, but the crowd blew my mind. That said, the line moved fairly quickly and only took around 15–20 minutes to get through.
The menu options are simple and limited: chicken, duck, gurame, sop kikil, tahu, and tempe. After paying, you need to line up again to order drinks from the server. Unfortunately, the drink queue isn’t well-organized; it’s more of a free-for-all rush, which made the process hectic.
Now, about the food: The duck is quite moist (basah), meaning it isn’t crispy-fried. The skin was still gooey, and for me, that’s a no. The rice portion is way too large compared to the portion of duck. The kremes, which is said to be the key element, was disappointing—they only served a very small amount, which left me wondering why. On a positive note, the sambal mangga tasted good and added a nice flavor to the dish.
Overall, if you’re in a hurry or very hungry, I’d recommend eating somewhere else. The long queues and the food didn’t feel worth it to me, especially when the dining experience fell short of expectations. This might be a good place to try for its reputation, but for me, it didn’t live up...
Read moreFor those of you who like food from out of town, especially those who are on vacation in Madura, it's incomplete if you haven't stopped by Nasi Duck Sinjay in Bangkalan Regency, Madura. In Madura, it is not only famous for its Karapan Sapi or Sate typical Madurese culture, but this Sinjay Duck is also famous everywhere outside the city.
Located on Jalan Raya Ketengan, Bangkalan Regency, Madura. The place is very easy to find because the location is on the edge of the highway which is always jammed because of dense vehicles fighting for parking in the restaurant area. Because of the traffic jam, Nasi Bebek Sinjay has now opened a new restaurant not far from the location of the first Sinjay duck restaurant. Now the restaurant is suitable for those of you who stop by Bangkalan and don't worry about traffic jams or finding parking because the parking lot for Bebek Sinjay restaurant is very wide.

The fried duck is good! Really good as a matter of fact, as it is deep fried, crispy, and tasty. Eve the bones are super crunchy you will eat them them all! It comes with steamed rice, fresh cucumber, and delicious fresh sambal or chili sauce with mango ! Super good indeed..
But you have to be prepared for the long queue! You will need to line up to order and pay directly, then line up for food and drink separately. It might be long during busy hours! What we did was we order for take away and the line is somehow shorter. Then you can eat it on the spot.
The restaurant is quite spacious but probably because it’s too crowded, it’s a bit dirty here and there. Crying babies, tired faces waiting for food and flocking people are here and there. But again, to those who love deep fried duck, it worth a try. If you can’t stand the crowd or the mess, better order it to go.
Th price is 25K Rupiah or around $2 for a portion of fried bebek, steamed rice and sambal plus drink (water or tea on the bottle)
They do open branches in Surabaya and Malan but they say the one in the original place...
