We stayed for four nights in Blu Oceano B&B and overall had a pleasant stay.
Rooms are decent sized, come with air conditioning, mosquito nets, and hot showers in an outside bathroom. Would definitely recommend bringing mosquito repellent and coils as there are quite a few mosquitos (in August at least).
WiFi is available throughout, although it is not the best in terms of speed and reliability. Additionally, the location does not have good signal with Telkomsel.
Breakfast is included in the room rate, with the choice of pancakes or eggs. While overall sound, the preparation time is rather extended (~45 mins) and the times it's available seem very arbitrary.
The accommodation is attached to an Italian restaurant and there are a total of two rooms. Would definitely recommend taking the room facing the garden (called the East room) as it provides more privacy. The whole place has a nice rustic and laid back vibe, plenty of space to lounge around in, and you will fall asleep and wake up to the sound of reggae music.
The property is located very close to Nemberala beach, which was super convenient.
The prices of transportation displayed on the website are out of date. A taxi from the fast ferry port, Ba'a, now costs 350k, and hire of Honda Beat scooter is 75k (plus strangely a 5% service charge). Local Bemo transport from the port was quoted at 75k per person as a foreigner.
We ate in the restaurant and found the food to be very tasty, it is on the slightly pricier side but that's because the ingredients have been imported.
The staff were very friendly and in general we found the owner to be helpful.
Overall, the accommodation offered is decent...
Read morewe spent a delightful week at this charming homestay in nemberala. despite its slightly remote location and the less-than-ideal road, the moment you step inside, it's like entering an oasis. the entire area is beautifully crafted, featuring a large, enchanting garden adorned with meticulous details. the presence of adorable ducks and the friendly dog, merah, added to the overall charm.
our room, though small, provided everything we needed—a snug bed, efficient air conditioning, a delightful outdoor bathroom, and a splendid terrace offering a view of the enchanting garden, complete with a cozy hammock. while cleanliness might not be its strongest suit due to its secluded nature, it suited us well. occasionally, contacting housekeeping posed a slight challenge. power outages occurred sporadically, but the homestay's noisy generator came to the rescue.
the on-site restaurant, serving delectable italian cuisine, was a pleasant addition. opting for pizza is highly recommended, as the noodle dishes seemed a tad small for their price. the only letdown was the bruschetta, overwhelmed by an excess of garlic, making it barely palatable.
the true star of this experience is undeniably abri. a true virtuoso, he effortlessly manages the homestay, leads the staff and the bar, excels in cooking italian delights, maintains room cleanliness, fixes broken faucets, and even provides live music—a true legend in...

Not to mention the Excellent Italian Restaurant... Best Italian food in Rote by far!
From the minute that you step in there you will see and feel that the whole place is made with so much love and passion. Massimo (the owner) is a lovely guy from Italy, a genuine human who really wants to take care of you - he has really thought about every little thing with such attention to detail.
The team working there: Apri (the rasta man who plays great reggae music every Wednesday, Friday, Sunday) makes the best pizza you will find in Rote. Rafli is always there to help with everything. Indah is so kind and welconing. And the 3 other ladies Paulina, Tasya, Eggy are also so nice and make amazing breakfasts!
Best VFM in Rote. So happy that I stayed there for 16 days, will definitely...
