If you are looking for an authentic Korean restaurant to go in Jakarta, Bo Shin Myeong Ga definitely is the place! Such an awesome place to visit. Great authentic Korean taste.
Ordered Doksot Bibimbap, Bibim Guksu, Galbitang and Hwangtae Jjim.
The Doksot Bibimbap defintely killed it. The taste is just on point. The veggies are cooked just in time, served with red rice. The Gochujang is subtle yet tasty.
Moving on to the next one, the Bibim Guksu is thin noddle with some sour sauce. The sourness is refreshing yet subtle spicy which is just delicious. The noodle is the star though, thin yet bouncy, can’t get enough of such plain Godly dish.
Third dish is Galbitang. This comes with red rice as well. The soup is rich in flavor. Although they are a bit spicy with the black pepper but they are awesomely good. The beef is okay but I just love and love the broth. I can just have the broth with plain rice everyday, that would be satisfying enough.
The last dish is Hwangtae Jjim. Its a dish of fish, dont know the name of the fish but it’s a new fish texture I have ever tasted. The fish is dried so it takes an effort to eat them. It’s sour with a lil bit of spicy but overall it’s an okay dish.
The dessert comes with watermelon and some hot ginger, sugar and cinnamon drink which is heavenly good. The cinnamon is kicking in very nicely with some sweetness along with the peppery taste coming form the fresh ginger. I think straight away of home when I sip in for the very first time.
The Korean owner middle aged lady is very kind and attentive. She greets you the momment you open the door. She comes to every table. The momment she stopped at my table, I would assume she asked me on how the dishes were as she spoke non-stop Korean and what we can do was just nod and smile.
Right before we exited, she spoke in Bahasa and she said she thought we were Korean. We talked for a bit with her limited Bahasa. We managed to communicate; she has been living in Indonesia for 11 years.
She recommended her specialty duck dish which I promised to her that I will be back to try that for sure. She even send us back to our car in the parking lot and she even stop the driving cars on the road just to let us leave the front gate of the restaurant safe and sound. Super great service at the hightest level!
Definitely coming...
Read moreBo Shin Myeong Ga doesn’t look like much from the outside. Looks like just a small wooden shack tucked along the road. All wood, warm lighting, and packed with real native Koreans that seem to really love this hidden gem.
The bossam here is on another level. Hands down one of the best I’ve EVER had. The pork is incredibly tender, juicy, and clean-tasting. The bossam kimchi is punchy and vibrant. Wrap it all up in cabbage and it just hits every note. It was savory, fresh, and satisfying. It takes an hour to prepare tho so u gotta pre-order them, but it’s absolutely worth it. I’d absolutely come back just for this.
And then the duck soup takes 90 minutes to prep and comes out steaming with big chunks of duck, potatoes, and kacang ijo. It’s subtle, earthy, and comforting. After the soup, they turn the leftover broth into a thick purple rice porridge. That warm, starchy finish really rounded things out. I enjoyed it, but the bossam still was the biggest highlight for me.
Everything else was solid too. They got lots of banchan, grilled meats, pancakes, noodles, and stews. Big variety, very homey, though most dishes didn’t stand out much. They’re nice to have, but I wouldn't mind coming back only for the bossam.
I love how they aren't trying to be fancy. It’s all about warmth, tradition, and honest flavors. The bossam alone makes this place worth the really long drive...

This is always be my go-to spot for comfort food. Every dish here feels like a warm hug.
🥣 The japchae is phenomenal—the noodle texture is perfectly chewy, with the right balance of flavors. It’s easily one of the best I’ve ever had.
🥘 Their kimchi jjigae is another highlight. The rich, flavorful broth is not only comforting but also works wonders if you’re feeling under the weather.
🍽 What sets this restaurant apart is their banchan (side dishes). They’re uniquely curated, offering flavors that suit the Indonesian palate, yet they remain authentically Korean.
🍲 The Sogalbijjim ribs here are another must-try—the sauce is a perfect harmony of sweet and savory, making each bite unforgettable.
🍖 Smoked Duck is also has great chewy structure and has the right burnt taste and aroma
