First impression First time eating here: We came at the door, no one greet us. We wait like 3-5 at the door still no one approached us. Then we decided to ask waiter that behind the cashier. Waiter ask us to see the 2nd floor if any empty seats since the resto quit small at the 1st floor. We went up and checked there were room empty but since we came less than 6 persons, waiter suggest us to wait downstairs even no customers more coming. We came down and wait until 1 family finish payment. It took around more than 5 minutes no one cleaning the table then i ask if they are going to clean or not!!! (We were about to leave since waiters are so ignorant!)
Food came like 20minutes Canape taste abit bland but salty cause of the nori. Inari spicy tuna dont taste fresh and little sauce. Okonomiyaki too soft and salty. Chicken katsu don, the chicken katsu made from chicken breast with no flavor then deep fried with flour, the chicken breast not juicy at all. But the egg is quite ok. Truffle angus donburi, the beef a bit chewy maybe the cook welldone and the sauce dont blend well. Salmon sushi cutting quite short and not fresh. Chicken nanban was good. Ocha has to be always free refill when you price it like 20k idr. Waiter knew that we quite upset about waiting time and their ignorance then they gave us ice cream, the ice cream was solid and nice though. Management should train more the waiters, also foods taste should be tested again and again over time. I myself own a fnb business and always listen to customers complaints and do better and improvise. Sorry for bad reviews hope you guys do...
Read moreFukumaru is a Japanese restaurant that is under one group with Kohicha, one of my favorite Japanese restaurant. So, no wonder that the taste is also good although the menu and concept are different with Kohicha. Fukumaru has their own parking space area.
The restaurant is clean and bright with the beautiful artificial sakura flowers ornament. They provide variant of appetizer, sushi, tempura, rice and noodle dishes, dessert, coffee, and tea.
Here are what I tried : Truffle Gyutan Yakimeshi (IDR 95,000) Fried rice in teppanyaki style that is served with abudant sliced tender gyutan (beef tongue), fried garlic, seaweed, green onions, and white truffle oil.
Cream Daifuku (IDR 32,000) This is a dessert menu. The thick and chewy mochi that is filled with flavored cream that you could choose, such as matcha, ichigo, and ogura. I tried the one with the thick ogura (red bean) filling. Tastes good!
Warabi Mochi (IDR 30,000) Another dessert menu. Five slices of plain mochi covered with roasted soy bean powder.
Ume Sakura (IDR 38,000) Since I'm more into coffee, that's why I'm not that familiar with tea. If you're a fan of tea, especially Japanese tea, then exploring the tea in Fukumaru could be a good choice. I chose this menu as the recommendation from the staff. It is said that this is Japanese sencha with pink konpeito and cherry blossom. The serving doesn't show pink color at all 😅 The taste is unique. I don't find the strong taste from the tea. Tastes less sweet and there's a bit...
Read moreHidden - ✅, Gem - not too sure, I had a few food to try out so it’s a little bit early for me to tell. There are interesting Japanese lattes in the menu but too bad I didn’t have the chance to try them out. For teas, cold ocha is not refillable (unfortunately), but premium freshly brewed tea can be refilled once. The price might be a bit expensive, but from what it looks like from the menu it does seem quite premium. I got Tori Tsukune Donburi, Chicken Katsu Donburi, and Sayako Roll. Overall, the donburi is quite good, proteins are extremely generous. I’m quite shocked at the thickness of the cuts and pieces, for set lunch you can get a few sides but you’ll have to add 30/35k. In terms of taste, Tori Tsukune is pretty tasty, they even glaze the rice and the Katsu is seasoned well. Not sure if the Katsu is a frozen product or not as it has that “solid packed” texture, but the taste is great and it’s not tough when you chew it. One thing that could be improved is the type of garlic chips that they use in the dish, it’s a bit too overpowering and bitter when combined with the Tori Tsukune’s sweetness, when you take a bite of it with the garlic chips it’s almost like the only thing you can taste is the garlic chip. Changing to another supplier’s garlic chips might need to be considered.
As for atmosphere, the place is pretty clean. There’s a few parking available at the back of the restaurant...
